another GT question for the ILR school

Hey

Does anyone with a GT for Cornell ILR attend a college in which he or she feels that it may be quite challenging to maintain a GPA of 3.3?

Are there any GTs who have successfully transferred without a 3.3 or a grade lower than B in a class?

If so, how lenient is Cornell towards GT students?

And nope, I'm not slacking because I got a GT.

Thanks!

Hey there are a good amount of ILR GT's on this forum. Wanna join our facebook group?

I'm sure I'll pull it off (at least I friggin better! lol)

if you fail to meet the 3.3 or the B-thing then your application will not longer be considered a guaranteed transfer and will be put into the pool with all of the regular transfer applicants. Unfortunately, this tends to be a very strong pool and lower than a 3.3 will certainly be on the low end of the GPA spectrum.

Background: I haven't told people at my current college that I'm a gt.

So can I just talk about how it's getting kinda sad that I'm leaving next year. I want nothing more, but I mean like yesterday people were planning for me to be in their dorm rooms n stuff. N people r telling me we r gonna be best friends for all 4 years n stuff. It's pretty frustrating... Anyone else having this problem? I feel like I might be the only one even keeping it a secret. (Although there's not doubt I AM transfering)

Figgy-my D is at a UC and going through the same issue. She hasn't wanted to tell anyone about her GT - 1) because of the embarrassment in case she doesn't make the gpa (which doesn't look to be an issue) and 2) because she doesn't want anyone to feel like she is too good for her current school or that they shouldn't be proud of being there.

One of her roommates right now is planning to transfer to USC next year (she has some form or a similar type of GT, but isn't maintaining the grades so far) and not only talks about USC constantly making the students at the current school feel odd, but even wears all the USC clothes! The USC girl is really being shunned even though D has tried to clue her in.

I think after the first of the year when she gets the official confirmation from Cornell, she'll have to start telling friends at her current school because it will become increasingly difficult not to. There will be real friends that she has made there that I'm sure she'll keep long after her transfer.

Ya well now I'm worrying about rooming with people now. If I say I'm going to, I will screw them over when I really don't...but if I say no I'll sound like a jerk who doesn't wanna be friends with them. So far I always change the subject...cept I know I'm gonna have to at least tell 1 person if I don't want to screw them over with rooming next year...

Hey, just wondering if anyone has any statistics/stories relating to the acceptance/rejection of GTs?

I'm somewhat worried about the grading system here at Boston University.

I was an ILR GT last year...I received a C and a B- my fall semester and was later rejected in the spring despite having the GT...When they say maintain a 3.3 they mean it...

If you don't get the right grades then you are put into a general applicant pool. If you don't maintain the grades it makes it extra hard to have the grades to pass the gen pool afterwards.

I'm sorry to hear, Roots. Just out of curiosity where are you attending now, or where did you attend if you transferred elsewhere, your freshman college classes? And what were your high school credentials?

Oh, here's a little information about myself for anybody else that's curious since I'm so inquisitive...

I attended a notoriously competitive high school, and graduated with a 91.3 avg. 1 person was admitted to ILR, 2 people were given GT (I am one GT).
AP grades: BC Calculus 4, Statistics 4
SAT's: above 2000 (sorry can't remember)

currently expecting the following fall semester grades
Writing: A/A-
Macroeconomics: A
Business 121: B?
Cultural Anthropology: B-/B?

*The catch is that every upperclassmen tell me to expect a lower GPA because that's how BU's grading system is; this is where my concern comes from. How will ILR base their decision if I lose my GT?

And nevermind Roots, I just read all your posts. Thanks for responding, I take your post as a warning.

Make sure that you don't get that B-! Ya I hear BU isn't very nice when it comes to deflation. Good luck tho! (You are put into the general applicant pool otherwise).
