I know there is a thread for this somewhere and maybe this is mentioned on that thread.

I just got the order form for yearbook pictures. Yes they are beautiful, very professional, obviously much better quality than my younger boy's public school photos, but-

8 wallets public school $11

8 wallets boarding school $50

Wow! That's definitely a hidden cost.

Of course I don't have to buy them, but he's so handsome hows a mommie to resist?!

Our son’s bs doesn’t do formal yearbook photos. There are sports team photos you can purchase, but most yearbook photos are casual and submitted by the student. Parents can set something up with a local photographer if they desire.

DD’s school lets each senior design their own page- no formal portraits at all. And given DS’s public school portraits- one shot, hair sticking up at weird angles- I’m sorry I spent the few dollars on it at all.

$150 a year for yearbook
$35 a year for student’s copy of the school newspaper
$75 a year for parents’ copy of school newspaper
$150 for graphing calculator

Wow…at my son’s school, there is no extra charge for the yearbook (I guess it is built into the overall cost). There is no charge to students for the school newspaper and copies of it are available for free in the library if local parents would like one. The graphing calculator…unavoidable.
