Another how to choose?! Emma Willard/Millbrook

My D was accepted as a day student at both, and we're really torn between choosing. She prefers not a pressure cooker atmosphere, and athletics are not a factor. There are things we love about both schools. I like how most of the faculty lives right there on campus at Millbrook. D's first instinct was coed, but now she is thinking of EW. We won't be able to go to the revisit days, so I am looking for opinions or feedback on both schools. Culture, friendly kids are important. (I also posted this on the Admissions forum.) Any opinions or input are welcome!! Please feel free to PM me.

I assume you have already searched the forum for each school. I think that girlgeekmom is a EW parent… you might see if she has specific input or feedback…?

MiaMiu, I am an Emma mom, and would be happy to answer questions (don’t know much about Millbrook, sorry!). I prefer to PM but I see you don’t yet have enough posts to send a PM… so, if you post some specific questions, perhaps I can help!

If you click on my name and look at my other posts, you should be able to do a custom search of “Emma” – you’ll see we are advocates, so fair warning  !

I hear lovely things about Millbrook from friends’ whose kids have gone there. Pretty campus, they have a cool zoo, very rural area (15 minutes from a very small town, half an hour from a smallish city) - small student population. I think Emma is a bit bigger?

Albion’s suggestion to ask the schools to put your daughter in touch with current students is an excellent one!

Just popped in and must dash… yes, Emma’s about 330 and I want to say Millbrook’s around 280? I’ve heard great things about Millbrook but I don’t know it personally. I do know a family who have one going to Emma and one to Millbrook next year, but they are not on the CC boards, I don’t think…

More later

I vote all-girls if she is own to it. It is a unique thing which is increasingly less possible!

*OPEN to it. Oops

Thank you for all the replies. We’re thinking all-girls for high school, definitely coed for college!
