Soooo here are my stats:
4.0 GPA
31 ACT
The best teacher reviews anyone's ever had. They showed them to me.
I'm in college calculus as a junior. I'm graduating this year as a junior though.
Strong essays.
700 on my Math II Sat subject test
740 on my US History Sat subject test
Both my teacher reviews make it clear that I study about 10 hours a day, most for personal study in sciences, political philosophy, literature, etc.
My interview with Northwestern University- the lady loved me! She said I was charming and i was one of those very few students who reallly benefit from an interview, even though they are not crucial.
I go to a private school that offers no APs or Honors, but the secondary school evaluation makes clear that our classes are all extremely challenging. For example in one quarter of language arts you must read Homer's Iliad, Odyssey and start Virgil's Aeneid. Thats just ONE of the classes.

So, with these stats, can I get into Northwestern (i applied ED) or University of Chicago, Notre Dame, and other schools of similar caliber? Even though my test scores arent fantastic?

oh, even though I’m graduating this year as a junior, i still four years of science- chemistry, physics, earth science, and biology. All 4.0 gpa. Also 4.5 years of language arts. 3 years of high school math and 1 of college calculus. (I take lots of summer school… I’m not weird though! I swear! ahahaha) so with all my classes made up, do i stand a good chance?

Also, does graduating early hurt me? Or will they find me somewhat impressive because of that fact?

I’d take then next ACT. You sound like you’ve got a great shot at NU though based on your interview. I don’t know if the junior thing will help or hurt you though. I really would just go to high school for another year, don’t wish it all away.

Notre Dame might be hard with that score, but the others all seem pretty good. Good luck!

I’d say that you got a decent chance at all of them, although you would benefit from a slightly better ACT score. You are right, it is in the top 3%, but you want to stand out a little more.

Such high rigor for your situation surely will be impressive. I’d say you’re low reach. But I only have a little bit of your application to compare.

If you get a point or two higher on your ACT you could easily be matchy.

As all of your schools are pretty much equal in caliber, I’d say they are all high matches/low reaches, with University of Chicago being the highest reach of the three. I would retake the ACT if I were you in December as well, since a slightly better score may push you over the bubble.

I’d retake the ACT, NU’s range is from 31-34 so you’d be in the 25th percentile for them. NU is very competitive and though you’re in the 97% nationally, you’ll probably need to be better for acceptance.

Your ACT is technically in the range and it sounds like your GPA is impressive, especially in the context of your school. I’d say you have a pretty good shot at all these places and applying ED will certainly help. Best of luck.

yeaa i agree, you have a pretty good shot at those schools. i dont think you really need to worry much about the act score cuz it’s in the range, overall sounds good esp graduating as a junior

ps thanks for chancing me! i chanced back! haha :D

I would say they are all medium reaches. Although a 31 is good, most unhooked applicants from UC, NU and ND have a 32+. Not to say that if you if you have a 31 then you won’t get in, but if can get that up your chances are all the better!!

You definitely have a shot at your schools. I don’t know how good ACT scores are, but judging off of what others are saying, they won’t put you above anyone else, but they won’t hurt your application by any means. Carrying a 4.0 GPA, especially at your school, will be impressive. I’d say high match/low reach, so you have an excellent chance. Good luck!

SOunds like a reach but maybe your ED status will help. I am giving you around 40% chance but with the interview that might bump it up even more. Wish you the best of luck!

If your gpa is unweighted and if you play a sport or do something else often and you are passionate about it, I’d say you can get into probably two of those three schools. Good luck!!
