Fall 2008 freshmen

Rethorics R1A, 4 units
Statistics 21, 4 units
Math 53, 4 units
History 7A, 4 units (for AH requirement as I'm international)

Total units: 16

Potential Haas/Applied Maths major. Is it too much? taking 16-18 units seem to be the norm for students who came from where I'm from.

Since you are probably pretty good at math, I don't think it's going to be too hard. I'm afraid you might find it a little boring though. You might consider waiting on statistics and instead taking something that you find more interesting.

bump for more opinions!

I would wait on Statistics since Purves is teaching it in the Fall. Also, Rhetoric R1A is not one of the harder "R&C" classes, but you typically learn a lot more. So you may want to try and get a different R&C course.

Any recommendations for a different R&C course then?

sounds like a good load. i'd recommend one of the R&C classes in the language departments. ie. scandinavian, german, etc... and also (south east) asian american, etc...

Okay, how does this sound then:

South and Southeast Asian Studies R5A (R&C first half)
Math 53 (Applied Math prereq)
Astronomy C10 (Physical Sciences breadth)
CS 3L (wanna learn how to program)

Oh and how hard is it to get the courses? Which ones would you recommend Phase I? It seems that Astronomy C10 has a lot of openings even though it's a popular course.

Use Phase for R&C and Math 53 if you want to take Hutchings.
