Another NYU question

Right now, I'm a Junior. I'm at a private school. 4.0 GPA. I took the SAT in March and got 690 Math, 780 Reading, 765 Writing (2235 total).

My extra-curriculars are limited. I did Mock Trial this year (but I joined late, so I was only participating for about 6 weeks) and newspaper (again, I joined late), but that's it.

I transferred into my current school from a public one right after Winter break last year.

For the first 3 semesters of high school my GPA was a 1.8. I was suspended Freshmen year for smoking marijuana (I should have been expelled…)

I had a part time job when I was 15 and 16.

NYU doesn't offer interviews, so the only chance to explain myself is through a personal statement.

I was thinking about applying Early Decision.

Even if my personal statement is decent, my record is still going to be bad. Do I stand any sort of chance?

Thanks.

765? I don't think there are increments of five on any part of the SAT.

This is made up. Even if I didn't see the "2235" SAT score.

Especially because he said he had a 4.0, when the first three semesters were a 1.8...
