Another Orientation Thread...

What should I bring? Most of the threads I've read say, fan (i'll be flying), sleeping bag or sheets (Which one?).

Should I have a tentative schedule made or will I have time when I get there to do that?

My forms say I'm in this comprehensive studies program (CSP) what is that? and how will that affect what classes I take? Is it possible for me to be removed from it?

Is there a lot of freedom at orientation? Like could I go somewhere when they aren't doing anything and shop or whatever?

Also, do you think it would be cheaper to buy winter clothes in Michigan during the summer instead of when school starts? btw, i'm from FL

Thanks

i didn't stay overnight so i can't help you with that part, but as for the tenative schedule, definately make it at home - you'll have time at orientation, but it's a lot easier to figure out what you want to do when you're at home.

I'm in CSP too - it's just a program that gives you extra options - you can take some of your classes CSP section if you want to, and they'll generally be smaller and more intensive, and they might meet more often. I was all freaking out when I found out that you can't be removed from it, but it actually doesn't matter - you don't have to take any CSP section classes if you don't want to, the only thing that you will be forced to do is go to the CSP office for advising during orientation, and I don't know how true this is, but I hear that the CSP advisors are better anyway.

Freedom during orientation = yes. Just be sure to come back on time because no one's going to run after you to make sure you attend important things like placement tests and such. Bring a watch.

I live in michigan, and there aren't really many winter clothes for sale right now... if you're looking to buy a heavy duty winter jacket, you're out of luck because right now you can't find any. Maybe if you scrounge you can find a long sleeved t-shirt or something? Steve and Barry's is downtown and they sell michigan gear, and they have sweaters, but they sell the same things year round at the same price. Plus I don't think it'll be that much cheaper, there are always decent sales and stuff going on.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask :D

Thanks so much, great information...What are some generally classes I should take? I am transferring Eng 1 and 2, Microeconomics, History 1, Govt, Calc 1, and Humanities 1, and some various others credits i have from my local community college if need be
