Another question about optional reference...

I have an incredible letter of recomendation from a family I worked for (incidently the father is a top attorney, surprise, surprise). Should I submit that as my optional reference or as an additional letter of recomendation?

I ask because I have the letter from earlier in the year, but the optional reference is supposed to be submitted from the people who write it.

bump bump bump

What do you aim to achieve by submitting a rec from this lawyer? To highlight you character? Commitment? Depends on the nature of your job and how exactly that rec complements your app and who you really are!

Oh the lawyer thing was random...Until he wrote the letter I hadn't the faintest idea that he was an attorney...

All of the above. I've worked with their family since I was 12. Babysitting, house sitting, that kind of stuff. I taught piano to their kids for a bit as well. I usually worked at their place 10 or so hours a week, so we were well aquainted. I had numerous discussions about everything under the sun with the father, so he also understands my reasoning and stuff...

It's really mostly a character and ability letter now that I think it through. The employment is just the warrent for it all...

Additional rec vs. Optional rec... does that mean you can send more than 2 recs without using the optional rec form?

I don't know about the regular applications, but since mine is non-traditional they allow it...
