another question!

hi
all the scholars and such students have started registering but the registration for new students doesnt start till the end of the month...so will there still be spots left for the new students? will i be able to take classes i want to?

Yes there will be spots left. Only 5 of the 15 spots in each freshsem are open to the scholarly folk. Expect to get one or two of the classes you actually want prima facie in the July and August registration periods. Stay optimistic for add/drop, though, because that’s the best time for freshmen to snag spots in 200 level classes.

Freshman year is tough for registration. You’ll get over it and learn to accept it. By then, you’ll advance past it. Don’t lose too much sleep over it.

depends on what classes you want… the seminars will fill up very quickly (you should definitely be ready at your computer 5 minutes before your registration time begins with all your stuff ready).

If something you wanted is full, take something else. You have to take roughly 40 classes… you can’t take them all first semester.

I’m literally praying for my seminar. I mean, it’s an off-the-wall one, but it’s small and that worries me.

Other classes I’m not too worried about. There’s plenty of alternatives I can take.

If you don’t get exactly what you want, keep after it. Join the FB groups for your class and ask about switching with someone in the class you want. You two can then coordinate drop/adds at a specific time so you can trade class registrations.

Keep in mind that incoming freshman can’t be too picky about their classes. You may not get every class you want (or get the classes at the times you want them) but sometimes the classes you end up taking because they’re all that’s left end up being some of your favorites so keep an open mind during registration.

Remember that there’s also add/drop the first 10 or so days of class when all students will drop out of some classes and register for new ones which makes spots available that aren’t currently available.
