lol this is such a miserable thread.
I failed my permit test the first time. It’s not an intelligence thing, its a common sense thing.

I’m lacking in that area.
Don’t worry about it, just take it over again till you get it.
btw, cali’s driving laws are unreal. You have to be 18 or something until you can drive with a passenger?

then again, florida has an aweful crash reputation.

“Oh why don’t we just call all Western nations first world and all the nations in Africa third world because they are obviously inferior…”

The terms “First, Second and Third World” are out of date since the collapse of the USSR. Basically NATO and friends (Capitalist countries) were the “First World” (you can tell a captialist coined the term), the Soviet Bloc and Cuba (Communists) were the “Second World” and those who were allies with neither were classified as the “Third World” the reason that these Third World countries are undeveloped is because the classification came at a time when many of these countries and recently gained independence from their colonial power and had their own problems with nation-building etc. that they were not developed enough to risk a being involved in a war against a superpower.

I’m so tired of people bringing that up; no one in the US has it as bad as some people in several African countries (Zimbabwe for instance). But really now, get off your high horse and let us complain.

OP, did you parents really say stuff like that or were you exaggerating?

^^^Wow, I never knew that, quite interesting.

Anywho, yea, everyone has bad days and good days. It’s better to vent than to keep it in, and obviously doing so makes you feel better. Just roll with the punches.

The Yank in London is totally right. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world are out dated terms. 1st just means Capitalist democracy. 2nd just means Communist command economy. And 3rd means everyone else because no one cared enough about them. The correct terms these days are “More Developed Country” and “Less Developed Country.” These aren’t categories, but rather adjectival descriptors. So Mexico is a more developed country than Afghanistan. But Mexico is a less developed country than the USA.

Most of the comments on this thread about Africa are absolutely horrible as well. Statements like these show just how much we’re already inculcated into a paternalistic view of Africa (and not of the individual countries in Africa, because who’d bother to know those? ■■■■) at a high school age.
