Cornell: high match if you do ED
Princeton: reach
Columbia: reach
MIT: reach
CalTech: reach
Berkeley: high match
CMU: match
Northwestern: high match
If you are interested in Engineering, you should have more math/science related EC’s which is not exactly what i’m seeing in your OP. However, if you do more research this summer along with a summer program/Intel or anything else you mentioned that is science/math related, it should increase your chances at places like CalTech, Berkeley and Cornell. Out of the reaches, i’d bet you get into at least one (with current resume)

@spiritkoi
Do you have any suggestions of science EC’s? I got research and submitting to intel/lisef/other fairs, and I might do a summer program like a previous person recommended. I mean, I can join mathletes(they have asked me before) and robotics, but what would the effect be in basically senior year? As you can see, I didnt think about EC’s alot in my early high school years lol.

I would just recommend do the research this summer as the main EC or a summer program. You’re right, you shouldn’t start anything senior year.

I’d love to tell you that you are a match for all of them, but it seems like these days it is basically a lottery to get tint the top-tier schools. However I think you have a very good chance!! Maybe pick you top school and hardest to get into and apply ed?

Good Luck! Chance Back??

Cornell: Match
Princeton: Extremely High Reach
Columbia: High Reach
MIT: Mid Reach
Caltech: High Reach
Stanford: High Reach
Berkeley: Match
CMU: Don’t know
Northwestern: Match

Cornell, Princeton, MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and Columbia are reaches. Your academics are higher than a lot of the applicants but that obviously doesn’t set you that far apart from everyone else at these high tier schools. I think you have a good shot at getting into at least one of them - applying ED would help a lot if you know which one you like best.

Berkeley is a match and Northwestern is a high match

First off. Absolutely amazing application.

Cornell, - very high chance
Princeton, - tough because you are Asian, but I would say you have a solid chance
Columbia, - very high chance
MIT, - tough again because you are Asian
Caltech, - same as MIT
Stanford, - good chance
Berekly, - backup.
CMU, - i practically guarantee you admission
and
Northwestern - hmm i would say high chance.

Have you considered applying to one ED? That might solidify you a spot there.

Chance back,

I like the SAT scores. Do something unique extracurricular to stand out besides football.

Eek! Your SAT scores and GPA are really good, I’d say, and they’re good matches for most of the top schools. Your sport is going to boost your chances as well, especially if you decide to apply early somewhere, but you should maybe try to get more leadership positions in ECs. While I’m sure that they wouldn’t reject you for the anime club, it’s not really something outstanding that shows leadership quality. It sounds more like a hobby, because what does the president position entitle you do in a club like that? Definitely aim higher and try to get an office somewhere.

I’d say CalTech and Berkeley are good matches. If you got one or two more leadership positions you would definitely have the Ivies within your reach, as well, but I’m not so sure about the rest.

Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1645010-chance-me-ivy-top-lacs-nyu-usc-ucla-i-ll-chance-back.html#latest

@Someone007
Thanks, I’ll try my best to get whatever leadership position there is left (in my school, that probably means none). I pretty much have no more hope for any more clubs, so I’m focusing alot on research and the Olympiads next year. Are the ivies (I’m not really talking HYP, more Cornell and Columbia) still within reach without more leadership roles?

BTW anybody reading I just learned how gpa’s are different in different schools… my school does A+, A, B+, B… so my 3.96 is basically all A+ and 3 A’s (weighted gpa out of a 4.3 system I think?). Also, if one doesnt take into account freshmen/middle school years (some classes count in my high school for that), my unweighted is 4.0 with only A+. I know Carnegie, maybe stanford and princeton do this?

Cornell - Low Reach
Princeton - Reach
Columbia - Low Reach
MIT - Reach
Caltech - Reach
Stanford - Reach
Berkeley - High Match
CMU - High Match
Northwestern - Not sure of standards

try an ED on one of the low reach/High Match schools! :D

bump

Btw,… what are good engineering safeties for me, and how would you guys categorize RPI?

Consider Purdue.

You should ED at Cornell or Northwestern if one of them is your first choice; I think you’d have a great shot. And I’d say you’re in at Cal and CMU. The others I’m not so sure about, but that’s just because they’re reaches for everyone. Don’t worry about class rank-- I go to a similarly ranked high school and colleges know that being in the top 10% here could probably guarantee being valedictorian elsewhere.

Best of luck!
