I mocked people for making "Chance Me" Threads, yet here I am...
I'm a white, Roman Catholic, Upper-Middle Class, New Jerseyite, so right off the bat I think I'm at a bit of a disadvantage.
Thankfully, I test very well. I got a 2340 on the SATs, a 770 on the Literature Subject Test, a 730 on the US History Subject Test, have a 3.7 Weighted GPA, and am taking 6 AP Tests my Senior Year.
I'm Varsity Tennis Captain, and a Varsity Wrestler. I'm also a Boy Scout, not Eagle Scout though, which definitely hurts, and am a member of the Natl Honors Society and a member of my schools Model UN Club who's gone to Yale 3x for competitions. I have one great teacher recommendation and one probably decent one.
I want to be a Sportsjournalist, and I've been published online multiple times for it; I even was able to interview and write about two different Olympians, so I'm pretty good at it, for fear of sounding arrogant. I also interned at the MLB Fancave in NYC this summer, so I think that looks pretty good.
If you take the time out of your day to respond here, I'd appreciate it. If not, so be it. I totally won't find you and hunt you down.
God bless

Also, opinions on EA vs RD would be appreciated.

Your GPA definitely hurts. What is your rank in your class? You look good otherwise though.

My school doesn’t do class rank, and they only give us info in breakdowns of 20%, so I’m in the top 20%, and that’s what it says on the Common App. I was never a great class taker, sadly

It shouldn’t hurt too much then. I think that you’re good to go for EA and acceptance.

Do you think that EA would be wise? I’ve heard from many other people on here that, in some scenarios, kids have gotten rejected from EA who otherwise would have gotten accepted RD. I’ve yet to find any type of evidence to support this though.

That is true. With your stats you should be fine though. When the ND admissions counselor visited my school last month, he said that anyone with higher than a 32 should apply EA. He said that it can vary from high school to high school but I’m assuming that a 2340 would be fine for EA no matter what school its from.

Good man, salt of the earth. I wish a ND rep made it out to my area; i’d have loved to pick their brain. Thanks for helpin’ out and good luck with your own seach

Parent here, we know a lot of kids who have gone to ND. From what we have heard in conversations with them – contact the admissions rep for your region and talk with them about EA vs regular, students report the regional reps are not coy about admissions strategies and chances.

In our area, kids are discouraged from applying EA unless they are tip top candidates. At first glance, your ECs sound like an ND kind of kid, but a 3.7 weighted is quite low for ND. Check the Common Data set for ND (just google it) and see where the top and bottom 1/4 of the admitted class are.

Talk to your admissions rep is the best advice I can give.

Good luck, and hang in there, fall of senior year is both painfully slow and unbelievable fast.

Find your regional rep and pick away. They pride themselves on their responsiveness. If you prefer to call, the phone number is 574-631-7505.
