Another thread about being rescinded...

I'll make this short and sweet. I'm taking 6 classes this year, all AP/post-AP. One of the courses is an economics class, which I took because I thought I might want to major in econ. 1.5 semesters later, I can say without a doubt that economics makes me miserable. I reallyyyyy want to drop the class right now, but I'm worried that it will affect my college admissions. Here are my reasons for dropping:

I got a 101% in the class first semester, so it should be clear I am not dropping to protect my grades.

I joined my school's science/math academic teams recently and would much prefer to study for those competitions than this class.

My parents got divorced at the beginning of the semester and I want to have more time to support my younger siblings through this, as it has been very hard on them.

I would rather focus on my other courses that interest me more.

I am taking a full year of AP social science classes on top of this class, so it's not like I'm slacking in social sciences.

So what do you think? I will call one of the colleges I am considering tomorrow to see if they would rescind for this, but I want additional opinions in the meantime.

Also, if I do drop, what is my obligation with regard to colleges I have not heard back from yet? Ivy Day is next week. Can I wait until decisions are in to inform them of this change?

I doubt dropping this class would rescind an admittance. If colleges send an email asking about it, just answer with the list of reasons you provided for us here.

your parents getting a divorce is reason enough. I dropped a class too and my CC said that college understand circumstances. Just keep your grades up in your other classes and you should be fine!

I dropped AP bio for an early release period to go to work earlier and none of the schools i applied to asked, only said its not a problem. I doubt this would cause a problem in your case.
