I'm definitely not an expert on chances, and am a high school senior myself, but you can't make a claim like that, that someone has no chance, unless it's perfectly, indisputably impossible; if it wasn't pass the ED deadline, I'd say you trying to scare away applicants to help your chances or something. First of all, you say the applicant has horrible sat's and a really low rank, while they are very respectable and something most kids in the country would be very proud of. Then you imply that these will keep her from any chance of acceptance into Cornell, when she is in the middle-50% for all applicants on the SAT and she is easily in the top 10% of her class, so I doubt that will kill her chances (20% of the admitted students aren't even in the top 10%). Combine that with good extra cirriculars, an early decision app, and good essays and recs if she had them, and she definitely has a shot. I can't get over what a horrible post that was. Good luck, climbstomper.

I can't say what your chances are. However, like you, I have some poor SAT II scores as well, but excellent rank/GPA/extracurriculars. I'm really hoping those will help me out. Good luck to you, and don't get discouraged =)

lol similar with most ppl who have responded, I have not much clue of the things myself. From my research on the importance of ECs comparing to that of academics and my looking over last year's applicants' personal stats, EC does play an important role in your application, and it could essentially bring you in to Cornell with 670s in SATs. Your EC is one of the best I have seen, and I really think it could help significantly in ur app. However, I think it could be much better if you show somewhere in your app that you can handle the academics very well too.

What I meant is she didn't have any APs, or probably forgot to list them here..? And I think ranking depends on school too, and AP could show more of the academic achievements? Just simply my opinion.
