As always, son is fine and patient and I am not. He has an appt to USMA but is waiting to hear about USNA and USAFA, with USNA being his first choice (he thinks right now).

My question is, with one appointment already, what is usual for multiple appointments? Does having one increase his chance or decrease or no affect? We know that he is 3q'd and has two noms to both schools. We were told he is a strong candidate by his admissions officer and his B&G.

Just need a little reassurance and as always, figure it is better to post something here rather than bug my son...

I have had many students over the years receive multiple appointments. When a student tells me they're interested in a service academy, I encourage them to apply to several due to the competitiveness. And more often than not, my competitive students receive more than one appointment. So it's possible.

I have no idea if receiving an appointment to one has any bearing on the others. Sorry.

My 2 cents (You get what you pay for): Being admitted to one academy should have no impact on admissions to any of the other 4 academies. Some MOC's will not nominate an applicant to more than 1 academy, but that's different.

Having an appointment to one service academy has no effect on the others. Hang in- USMA puts out their offers very quickly- in our experience, USNA was the slowest of the 3 our Mid applied to.

If son chooses USNA (which I fully expect but am not sure yet), we luck out as we've got relatives in Annapolis. Whew!

And thanks for the congrats! He's just a "normal" kid who works hard. I'm so happy for him! (BTW, he goes to school on LI but we live in UT so his B&G is in LI but his app and noms are from here. Funny but I guess it worked out ok!)
