Great shot but why leave wharton?

I may not leave. I am just considering the option of transfer at this moment. If i believe I have decent chances and everything else works out, I will. And, that's why I wanna know my chances. Why am I considering it? Well, I dont wanna delve into that now, but there is a major I want to pursue thats not available at penn. And, my parents are strongly against it. So, I guess there is greater chance that I don't transfer.. But, i want to consider every option that's available to me. Thanks all.

hey sk3456 u have a great great chance to get into harvard. regardless whether you wanna apply or not, you should always try man cause it wont hurt you at all. Who knows, you might get accepted and that will give you more choices to where you wanna go.

One of my old high school friends transferred from UPenn to Harvard but he was already accepted out of high school so supposedly he went through a different process. From hearsay, top tier colleges love snatching students from each other.

Other than that, successful transfers to HYS are very limited in this specific forum. If you seriously are considering to transfer, I recommend calling the hotlines and asking for transfer statistics.

There's also no need to "believe" in having decent chances. You're stats are good, and they will provide you with a "decent" chance. The honors program at Wharton is well known, and given the selectiveness of the sophomore level honors there, you should know already that you have a large advantage over other transfers.

It really strikes me as arrogance when you question the obvious. It may just be that you are very paranoid, but I smell some made up stats. As to more specific chances, you ask us to give you options but you fail to provide us with specifics, such as which major you want to transfer into. You give us a bunch of basic information, but none other. What high school did you come from? What major are you trying to enter?

I'm also extremely curious to find out which high school will send 15-20% to Ivy's. I came out of an extremely competitive high school also but the rates were no where near 15-20%. Please do share.

I'm really trying hard not to turn this into a cross examination, but it'd be nice to hear more information before any of us delve further into this discussion.

First, thanks for the input. I aprreciate it.

-Well, I didn't think I questioned the obvious. As I said, I was rejected from HYS, and I've been told that transfer admission is much harder (at least %-wise). As an already-once-rejected candidate, I didn't think that this post was to show off. I just wanted some opinion. Yes, I'm being paranoid. haha.
And, made up stats. Yes, I used 700 ish, and other stuff. It just came from my laziness. I thouth 700 ish is good enough to get opinions. But my stats are real. Whether you believe it or not, its up to you. And, I haven't decided on major yet. Of course, there are a few in my mind, but no way specific enough to post here. Only one obvious thing to me is that I am considering transfer, and I wanted to know my chances.

I went to a private boarding school called St. Paul's. Many people, if not all, regard this as one of top 5 private boarding schools in the nation. I went to my school's website, and the following is what i got. There are about 110-120 kids in each grade. In 2006, Brown:3, Harvard 9, Yale 3, UPENN 5, Princeton 5, Dartmouth 3, Cornell 2, Columbia 3. Average SAT in my class was something like 1349. I hope this would abate your suspicion.
When I wrote about my HS gpa, I just said 'pretty competitive' rather than 'very competitve', since i thought, by saying 'very competitve' i would seem arrogant. Oh yes, i know this is very ironic. But, that was how i thought.

I totally agree with you.

To everyone:
Whether you think im being arrogant or not, I wasn't being arrogant myself for sure. If it seems arrogant to you, I apologize. But you should note that my intentions were not to be arrogant at all. I would appreciate no more 'arrogance' posts. Thank you.

sk, believe me, the some of posters in this thread are posting out of sheer envy.

Don't be mad, sk3456, I think dhl3 is mainly joking. If you look at his/her other posts, you can see he/she sometimes likes to make funny statements.
As for your chances, I feel you have good chance for those schools, that's all I can estimate. Also if you provide your major, that may help since major matters a lot.

The problem is that these schools have so few openings that it is extremely hard to transfer. That said, you have excellent freshman stats and that will advance your cause. I'm not that familiar with tranferring, but I don't recall anyone re-taking SATs to transfer once in college. The schools want to know how you are doing at your present school. The biggest factor may be the reason you want to transfer. You are in an excellent school so you will have to articulate a good reason for transferring. If UPenn doesn't have a particular major of interest to you, then that would be a good reason. But are you sure that HYS and MIT all have this particular program and that it is unavailable at UPenn?
