Another transferring to Cal question

The major that I will be applying for (Rhetoric) does not have any pre-reqs at any CC to qualify me to enter upper-division work immediately after transferring. I need to take Rhetoric 10 and then 20 in order to declare my major. Because of this, I plan on pursuing a minor (I'm leaning toward Public Policy) to jump into concurrently with my Rhetoric lower-division work on my first semester/year.

I looked on the website so try and find more information on adding a minor, and from what I pieced together via "adding the X minor is open to all Berkeley students" ...I don't need to have any pre-reqs in order to add a minor. Is this right?

The only prepwork that I can think of for PP is Economics, which I plan on taking to fulfill my soc. sci. IGETC group anyway.

Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

You rarely need preqs to add a minor.

I see. I'm guessing that this is more so in this case where I'm not straying too far from my major. Not like I'm looking to add a CS minor or something.

Anyone else?

no it just depends on the department.

from CAl website- minor used was Geography

" To formally enroll in the minor program, please see the SAO. Once you have completed all of the requirements for the minor, you must see the Student Affairs Officer to fill out the "Confirmation of Minor Program" petition. You should plan on filing this petition with the SAO during finals week during the semester in which the last course is taken.
It is the student’s responsibility to fill out this petition."

SO -= technically speaking you can take all your minor courses without even being enrolled int he minor, then declare the minor and file the petition for confirmation all int he last semester.

I read the exact same thing on the Public Policy website except that there are no reqs to declare the PP minor.

Thanks for you help!

I'm working on a minor in classics at Cal. The way I see it, since after completing all my upper division history coursework for my bachelors I'll still need 7 more classes (28 units)...I might as well work on a minor of my choice which simply requires 5 upper division classes.

Now what to take for those remaining 2 classes...hhmm.

Take Rhetoric 10 and 20 :D

I wouldn't worry about it grey because you're going to get REJECTED!!! hahaha....seriously though.....you're not getting in.

Still holding a grudge because I shut you down? Why do you even lurk the transfer forums if you're already at Berkeley? Get a life.

And I'm adding you to my ignore list so don't try and bore me with your pathetic response. Loser.

You shut me down in your prepubescent dreams kid. Oh and there are many members who post on here after transferring to help those who want to transfer. I just happened to encounter your dumbass and it got me sidetracked. Take a break from the forums buddy, you have like a 100 posts in a month. There is a exciting world outside of your parents house.....go explore it.
