So can you get accepted into UCSB, but not for your declared major?

I'm scared cause I'm on the border for being accepted, and I had declared biochem.
I rather get accepted, but not get that major then to get denied for declaring that major...

"College of Letters and Science
Choice of major is not considered in selection except for computer science applicants, who are selected using engineering criteria (see above), and dance and music performance, which require an audition. "

Your choice of major does not matter- you will either get in based on your stats or you won’t, regardless of major.

That’s not true actually. Competitive majors like Biz Econ and Comm are selected based on merit. That’s why they want you to choose a second major, in case you don’t get accepted to your first choice.

And also, after you acceptance, you can switch your major any time prior to your arrival in fall. Some of the majors are not switchable unless further review of your application materials is done. Those majors are the ones that are very competitive at admission, such as Biz Econ.

So if either major choice of yours is not one of the competitive ones, then you’ll be fine.
