Before I get criticized for asking these questions just let me say I have done a lot of research and know a lot about med schools but I am just learning about BS/MD programs so please help me. Also I'm a high school sophomore.

What are the top 5 BS/MD programs that allow you to apply outwards?
-I want to know because it is important to me that I go to a prestigious college so if I can't get into a good one that I would rather go to a prestigious UG school and take the regular route.

How competitive are these programs compared to UG schools?
-is it more selective than harvard? about equal to harvard? about equal to HYPS? about equal to all the Ivys? just so I can get a rough idea of the difficulty.

Do you know the requirements for UCLA BS/MD because it says to email them but I don't really want to do that
thanks

Top 5 depend on how you judge them. In technical terms, based off of med school rankings (which are not a completely accurate judge, but pretty good), the best would be Northwestern, Case Western, Rice/Baylor, and Brown (with Brown far below the rest).

The ones mentioned above are, for the most part, MUCH MUCH more competitive than Harvard/ivies. The most selective of the programs, probably Rice/Baylor, has about a 1% acceptance rate.

I don’t know anything about the UCLA program.

Northwestern - expensive, financial aid is not that good. Hope it could keep its rank.
Case Western - Hope it could keep its rank.
Rice/Baylor - it seems suffer some scandal recently, rank will drop
Brown - ranking climb fast, it will do so. Ivy league reputation - connections and networks, lots of potential.

Bigfire, I think your analysis is about as far away from the truth as could be. If any of those schools is going to lose its rank, it is Brown. Sure there are connections…but that has nothing to do with rank at all. Northwestern has a fantastic medical school, same with Case and Baylor. All are top 25. Brown is rising, but they are far from being that good.

I would say, all these schools are in the mid rank, but only Brown has potential to go much much higher within a few years, both from its rank climbing speed and its ambition.
Let’s watch in 8-10 years year after year from now.
