Answer This Question!!!

i have already posted two threads entitled laptops, and i have not gotten any responses, so i thought id try a different approach. Anyway, just answer this simple question. Do kids bring laptops to class, and how frequently do they do it?

While i have you here, i just received an email from gtown today outlining the special dorms we could have, such as living well. I am interested in the floor that has half foeigners, half americans. Can anybody elaborate on this?? Thanks

I bought <a href="http://www.provantage.com/sony-vgnsz140p08%7E7SONN0MR.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.provantage.com/sony-vgnsz140p08~7SONN0MR.htm</a>

Most students that I spoke with at the GAAP weekend said that they take computers to class. The wireless network extends into the academic buildings.

Yes. Students do bring laptops to class. You have wireless access in the ICC and Reiss. Don't know about St. Mary's, but since UIS is parked in that building, I wouldn't be surprised if they did. White-Gravenor and Walsh do not have wireless (neither does Healy or Maguire). Lauinger Library (oh, Lauinger) does. New South dorm also has wireless Internet access, although it gets flaky at times.

Most people take notes on paper but a good number do use laptops. If you think that will work well for you then go for it. If you're trying to decide to buy a laptop or desktop by considering if you'll bring it to class, know that laptops are so much better. You can take it anywhere you want which makes everything so much easier. I think I only know one person who has a desktop computer- everyone agrees laptops are better.

St. Mary's, home to University Information Services and the School of Nursing and Health Studies, has wireless throughout the building.

I definitely recommend taking a laptop to any class that's lecture style, especially biology courses, unless they require drawing, like in chemistry courses. Take a notebook too just in case.
