Answering ALL Questions Related to Rutgers Pharmacy

@ sporty04
i think it’s random and you should definitely try to apply earlier because you probably will hear earlier then most people.

If I don’t get into Rutgers Pharm which is my dream school, but I want to study pharmacy, is it worth going to the Rutgers Arts and Sciences School and then transfering to a pharmacy school, or is it better just to go somewhere else?

that is what i did…

why if i didnt get into rutgers pharm and attended rutger sas for 2 years while majoring in bio to cover the prereqs? could i transfer to the pharmacy school for the last 4 years? are the chances the same as transfer students?

u really dont need to declare a major all u have to do is take all the pre-prof prereqs in order to apply the spring semester of ur sophomore year

However ur GPA has to be high since apparently from what i heard and my own personal exp its harder than other transfers since this yrs transfer which i am a part of only had three transfer students,2 yrs, from new brunswick. However, there were upperclassmen that did transfer in from new brunswick but u have to take the PCATs for a more competitive edge if u apply beyond ur 2nd year.

@ zheng

What were ur stats? and did u go to sas or sebs, before transferring to pharmacy?

i was in SAS i had like a 3.82 GPA when i applied last spring.

i mean ur high school stats, involving ur sat scores?

Well i dont remember my HS stats that much but i think they were 4.85 weighted 3rd or 4th in a class of 130ish. My SATs were around 1300 or something. Really didnt care until i got into college.

so with those numbers, why didn’t u get into rutgers pharm automatically?

I know this topic has been butchered alot, but i feel the need to ask it again… what are my chances at getting accepted into pharmacy?
Ethnicity: Asian, and bilingual
GPA: 96.4 (not sure how to translate to 4.0 scale)
all honors/ AP classes
SAT Score: 650/680/570 (a total of 1900), but taking one more on october 9
senior year for sciences i have honors physics and AP Chem
Class rank: 18 out of 500
a lot of EC including National Honor Society, a good amount of volunteering+ volunteering clubs, varsity tennis since sophmore year,
I’ve been employed in retail over the summer

what do you think my chances look like, is my SAT score too low?

My scores at that time were borderline having around 1300 does not guarantee u a spot from HS.

@dream

I’d say you have a decent shot of getting now; I’ve heard of people getting in with SAT scores under 1300. If you get your math/reading over 1400, I’d say you have a huge chance of getting in.

This is cause I had a mediocre GPA in high school (taking honors/AP courses) but I got a 1470 math/CR and I got in.
Yeah so, I believe admission to Pharm is based really heavily on SAT scores.

Rutgers doesnt accept recommendations from teachers right?

nope, they don’t. But it can’t hurt to send them anyway just in case. I’m going to just because.

GPA: 3.76/4 (NW) 4.67/5.3 (W)
Sat: 800/730/730
APs: 5 Chem, 5 Lang and Comp, 5 Human Geo, 5 European History
Class rank : not reported
EC: National honors societies (english, french, and merit), AP scholar, PSAT commendation, 4 years of theater, 8 years dance, volunteering here and there, assorted clubs.

Freshman year really screwed me up. Without it my non-weighted GPA is a 3.9 and Weighted is a 5.03
I’ve taken all H/AP courses since sophomore year and have gotten 1 B (AP Lit junior year), which was an 89.
This year I am taking AP Physics, Philosophy 2, AP English, AP French 5, AP US Hist, AP Calc BC, and Experimental (H).
Anyway, since none of you are even a little bit tired of doing this, chances for Pharm?
Also, should I bother submitting my research abstract for my experimental project (its biochem).

Stop asking chance me questions. We’ve answered like 50 of them already. You should be able to figure it out by now.

When does Rutgers Pharmacy start to give out decisions?

For Rutgers, the academic profile for the most recent class reported, is probably your best guide - see
[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admission.rutgers.edu/Academics/AdmissionsProfile.aspx)

I would say your chances are good if you are close to or above the high end of the 25-75% range - beyond that , it is a numbers game re how the apps are running in a year. With Rutgers, it is pretty hard to say if they go much beyond the stats. See

If you have your heart set on the degree, I’d focus on one of the other schools, as they appear easier to get into.

can somebody help me with something for the application?

for the activity section, it asks you which grades you volunteered in? but then it says “beyond hs”?

is that asking if you’ll continue in high school or is it referring to transfer applicants?
