I don’t think so. I don’t have an AP science besides Physics; I do have European, US, and World History; with both English and Spanish though + Macro & Micro economics.

I don’t think the classes really matter…

i would go with AP economics and AP english since those are classes you will be taking in your pre-pharm years. it will be a good foundation / practice for when you take the “real” class

i did some research on rutgers pharmacy as my college counselors suggested and i loved it.
I was just wondering…what is the essay question for rutgers pharmacy? do i apply differently if not applying for general program? Thanksss!!

I don’t know if anything has changed, but when I applied, there was no special question for people applying to Rutgers Pharmacy. You don’t do anything differently…just select that one of the schools you want to apply to is the pharmacy school.

guys i was wondering the people that got into rutgers 0+6 program, what are your range of sat scores?

also, if i take the act as well and that score is better than my corres. sat score should i still send both and they’ll decide based on the higher score?

oh and do i apply for the 2+4 program with the 0+6 program or do i only apply to the prior after i get denied from 0+6? and is there guaranteed admission after 2 years at camden

Hi, the 1st Pharm. Orientation is taking place now. Can someone attending give me their impressions , i.e., people attending, organization of the program, cohesiveness/friendliness of the group, what you liked/disliked, what was mentioned ab. the pharm. prgrm. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!

I went, it was fun. The orientation isn’t at all “for” pharm kids; only one lecture at the end of the second day was. IT WAS HOT. Dorms were 90+ at night, NOT COOL.

The orientation was still a blast, cute little games, activities, etc. SOme of it was a bit dry and bland, activities included; but overall decent. The groups that I saw were either Arts/SAS/Pharm; so everyone in your group of about 10 will be your school. I knew some of my group from FB already, so it wasn’t as awkward I guess; but those I didn’t know were just as cool.

Pros: People, Orientation leaders (hilarious people!)
Cons: SO HOT. Sometimes childish (scavenger hunt outside for five hours? no thanks…)

I know it was asked before whether it is a good idea to place out of calculus I (& calc II), biology or chemistry
Someone recommended using ap credit to place out of biology and/or chemistry because these classes are difficult and have little basis in the next semester bio/chem classes

To better weigh my options, I was wondering about the specific reasons that these classes are harder (or maybe easier in your opinion)- the actual material, the work load, teachers, quizzes and tests…etc

One reason for choosing to AP out of bio over chem is the lab alone…chem lab is only one semester, and it’s not very hard at all (no formal lab reports needed). Bio lab, on the other hand, is for two semesters, and the labs are more involved (they have practicals and have to do some formal lab reports). I APed out of bio, but judging by what my friends spent their time cramming over, a lot of the information that they spend so much time studying is useless in the long run (the details of mushrooms, for instance).

Certain concepts of chem are useful for before you continue into orgo (Lewis structures and acids/bases, in particular). To me, Chem 162 (Gen Chem II) was the hardest class…test questions could be tricky.

hi guys…i was just wondering…is it possible to live in an apartment/house instead of living on campus starting from freshman year in Rutgers pharm?

thanks :)

Hey, I am currently going into my Junior year of High School.
I really want to make it to Rutgers Pharm and I heard it was very competitive to get in.
I just want to know if I’m on the right path for acceptance.

Asian Male
6 / 190 rank
4.0 gpa, Mostly A’s,
Taking 2 Ap courses my junior year (Chem and History)
I plan on taking Ap Biology and Ap Calculus and Ap Latin my senior year.

I took a practice Sat test and scored a 1870 which isnt that good, but working on it.
710 M, 580 R, 580 W

I just want to know what kind of credentials and things I should do to make it into the Rutgers Pharm program.

everything looks good; you might want to work on the SAT a bit (I think the median score last year was like 2100ish). Otherwise, good rank; good GPA, good courses; try and build up some extracurriculars if you don’t have.

Pretty sure you can commute your freshman year (not 100% sure though), but I would really suggest that you live on campus your freshman year. It really is an ‘experience.’

This is probably a dumb question but… Once you receive your PharmD, are you licensed only in that state? (in this case, NJ)

I was wondering if I would be able to go to Rutgers for its Pharmacy school and then return to NY to practice pharmacy

To be licensed in any state you are also required to take the state license exam along with a certain number of retail hours for instance i think for NY it is about 2000 hrs and NJ is 1500 hrs somewhere along that number

For NJ, you will have enough hours from your rotations to cover the requirement. For other states, you may need to work more hours to attain your license. New Jersey is one of the lax states when it comes to intern hours
