Anti-Fog spray for eyeglasses

I bought the Zeiss “defender kit” for about $13. (CVS, Walgreens, Amazon, or even your optician). I have anti-reflective coating and it doesn’t damage it - it’s designed by a high-level optical brand from Germany.
I admit I was skeptical, but I could not see anything with the fog and kept walking with one arm in front of me, so I figured, why not try this and… IT WORKS! You spray it*, wait a bit (this is important), wipe lightly with the included cloth (or other microfiber cloth) and you’re good for several hours to all day. Best $13 spent this year.

  • if need be wipe the glasses before you spray :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought anti-fog spray when I stopped by for new nose pads on my glasses. It was $20, but we were heading out on a ski trip so decided to give it a go. It worked well on my ski goggles and running sunglasses (both wearing mask).

Thanks for all of the responses. I might try the Zeiss spray suggested by @MYOS1634 and the Mask 2.0 suggested by @deb922 . Both my regular progressive lenses and prescription sunglasses are coated with the anti reflective so those seem like my best options. Unfortunately can not wear contacts due to allergies.

I use anti-fog wipes I ordered from Zenni. They work well, though I do have to use one every day.

I’ll have to check Zenni. I thought I saw something on their site a while ago but couldn’t seem to find it in a recent search.

Fold a kleenex to tape across the inner rim of your mask. It’s soft, comfortable, makes the mask fit better, absorbs the moisture (so no fog) and is disposable. Works like a charm. I fold it in half and then several time lengthways then use double sided tape to position. No fog!

That’s a good idea. Reminds me of a trick my Dad had on warmer ski days. He’d stash a paper napkin in the palm of his mittens to absorb sweat, switch it to a new/dry napkin at next break.

UPDATE:

I decided to order the mask holder as suggested by @deb922 in her post above and received it yesterday. Tried it out and it seems to work! H thinks it looks a little goofy but I don’t want to take a chance on messing up my expensive progressives.

I just clicked on that link from @deb922 and it’s no longer available. Is there a more current one?

Not sure if this is exact one, but it looks like it.

@FallGirl …thank you for the link. I think I would rather have foggy glasses🙄

It does seem that the device would give tighter seal / better protection?

@Colorado_mom - that’s the idea!

I saw a review on a blog of Optix 55 Anti Fog Treatment https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R91W8JJ that was very positive so I’ve ordered it. We can’t post blog links here so I can’t give the link but here is the post

I asked my optometrist what he did to keep his glasses from fogging up when he had a mask on. He told me to buy the Optix 55 AntiFog. “It’s the best I’ve tried, though not perfect.” “Is it better than baby shampoo that scuba divers use?” “Better by far!”

My first impression was disappointment. My glasses didn’t fog up white, but instead was smeared all across like a worn out windshield wiper on a car used in rain. I was about to write a scathing review when I read that you had to leave it on longer before wiping it.

That did the trick. It’s still possible to overload the anti-fog, by riding through fog, but for normal breathing out of a mask, the glasses never fogged up again. Well worth the money. Recommended.

I didn’t know about that. It probably would have been good for me. I am happy so far with the mask holder I ordered.

UPDATE: I wore the mask holder in the airport and on the flight last week. I was able to read and had no discomfort. Definitely served the purpose I bought it for.
