<p>I think it would suck to have anti-gay parents. I have a few gay friends, and I don’t know what I’d do if my parents “didn’t approve” of them. </p>

<p>Luckily my parents have gay friends themselves (and gay family members), so they pretty much can’t do that to me.</p>

<p>I honestly didn’t know there were really people uncomfortable with gay people anymore. I guess I’m sheltered…</p>

<p>All I’m saying is that if 95% of a GROUP OF PEOPLE vote for a LIBERAL / DEMOCRATIC President, then 70% of those shouldn’t vote FOR proposition 8, they should have voted No. It’s a double standard. Obviously you don’t see me saying I hate black people, because that’s not my intention or even true. As a gay male I’m the most open minded person, I would never stereotype. After all, the gay community doesn’t have a very good rep - especially gay males. We have extremely high HIV rates, I understand that and will admit it.</p>

<p>First of all, pro-gay is not a “democratic belief”. There a plenty of democrats who do not support gay rights (Black AND White). Conversely, there are republicans who do. Whether or not someone supports gay rights is an issue of liberalism and conservatism, not democrats and republicans. Not all democrats are liberal, and all republicans conservative. </p>

<p>Secondly, it’s ridiculous and quite offensive to make comments like, “blacks are conservatives without even knowing it” because 1) it’s a gross generalization; 2) it’s belittling to assume that a whole race of people are ignorant to their own political beliefs; and 3) it was based on the misconception that all democrats are liberals.</p>

<p>I kind of live in the HIV center of the universe (DC: we have more HIV than sub-saharan Africa), and the thing is that the gay community has really stepped up and minimized the spread of HIV. The people who are spreading HIV now are really intravenous drug users. I know that seems anecdotal, but I swear it’s not, poke around and you will see. I would

<p>I myself am not gay but i have no problem with gays or lesbians, i work on a “its their business, not mine” policy so its fine as long as i dont get dragged into it. but my family is not. then again they’re from jamaica…</p>

<p>a popular story in jamaica is that if you’re gay and its well known you’ll get beaten to death. if you call the police they’ll come and beat you too. Not very open minded.</p>

<p>my parents don’t know how liberal or how pro gay rights i am. well, its more that i’m a bit apathetic about other people’s lives but i believe in basic rights for people and the right to be happy.</p>
