Anti-Virus, Spyware, web crawler, hackers, etc..

I have been wondering everytime I read the news, we have been attacked by hackers from other countries (China, Russia, etc) and we are just hopeless can not do anything?

Correct me if I am wrong that internet was invested by MIT or Univ. of Chicago? and being used by the military before being introduced to the public.

How come those schools that have invented internet can not do handle the hacking stuff once and for all?

And for all of you who have major in CS, can you come up with something solid that defend and prevent any hacking stuff? can you close the loop-holes?

or, is there any classes out there that will teach about preventing the hacking world?

Any idea? Thanks.

are you serious?? I think you are kidding.
first I want to inform you that I am not American before answering your question.
my conclusion about the American society is that 85 % of American people are ignorant “I am so sorry for using this vocabulary”,I mean you know just inside the US and have no idea about what’s going on in this world.
do you think that such a country like China does even have a chance to compete with the US!!! or even Russia!!! that makes me laugh so hard.
china has 1.5 billion population and they barely can compete with the US economy ,I know they will be the biggest economy in the world soon but that does not mean they have stronger one because when you look at the American life style and compare it to the chineese, russian one you will understand what I am saying.
the US has capabilities that no 1 has in the Military, technical field.
you rule the entire world dude
and you have politicians that know exactly the perfect time for attacking.

God bless you America.
gonna be in the US for EE in August/2013 ,can’t wait …
and you really need to modify the immigration law, because you are letting tras* people being US citizens ,take Germany for example :they don’t let you be citizen unless you are high-qualified like a surgeon or you have special skills <you know="" what="" i="" mean="">.
I think the US needs to expand its population but not according to the current way.</you>

Hacking is no different than war. In fact, hacking is often referred to as a cyber war and constantly changing just as warfare is constantly evolving.

In battle, you protect your soldiers with armor. Bad guys design armor piercing bullets.

Bad guys use armor piercing bullets, you implement new close quarters fighting techniques.

You implement close quarters fighting techniques, they use booby traps and mines.

Bad guys use booby traps and mines, you train bomb demolition teams.

The chain goes on and on and on and on…

In cyber warfare, you design a firewall, they design an email worm.

Bad guys design an email worm, you design an email virus scanner.

You design an email virus scanner, they use spam bots.

Bad guys use spam bots, you invent captcha.

You use captcha, they use phishing.

Bad guys use phishing, you use redirection notification pages.

The war continues…

The winners of a hacking war are the ones who fight the hardest and the longest. The moment you go to sleep or get up to go to the bathroom, they win.

Yasser: I am not kidding…this hacking stuff has been all over the news CNN, Foxnews, MSNBC, local tv, etc.

Here is a little news and the link: <a href=“U.S. Demands China Crack Down on Cyberattacks - The New York Times”>U.S. Demands China Crack Down on Cyberattacks - The New York Times;

This hacking stuff is going on and it is for real…ignoring it does not make it go away! Moreover, lots of business websites and govt websites have been hacked by the hackers. I have been wondering where are all of these CS grads with big salaries; how come they can not do something about it aka to prevent the websites from being hacked once-and-for-all?..

Peterhax: thanks for your “Poet”. However, still it does not solve the problems aka how come all of these CS grads with big salaries can not come up with something to prevent the websites from being hacked once-and-for-all?..

More importantly, if the hacking stuff is rampant and getting worse, how come the universities in the US do not have classes/courses on how to prevent hacking one-and-for-all, not just putting off fire when there is fire?..just curious.

If man can make it, man can break it.

So we just need women to design things I guess.

It really isnt that simple, they do teach cyber security in many CS majors but you can’t just stop hacking. To get a better picture of it its like opening a safe, no matter how secure it is there is still a way to open it.

Hacking will never stop because at the end of the day everything is just in memory. CS research in cryptography have done a lot and have come up with methods to make computers safe enough that we can feel safe about putting our SS, credit card numbers, and other information online. Without all the methods that cryptologist have been this probably would not be possible. Hacking will never stop
