Anticipation...

I live in South Carolina, so I probably won't receive my letter until tuesday-ish. I received a likely, but I'm still extremely nervous. How telling is a likely? Has anyone here gotten a likely and been rejected? Sorry if that's super nosy :]

I’ve heard alternative versions of this :S Most people tell me that if you’re an likely, they just put you in the “accept” pile and don’t look at you again. But I did see one girl on here who said she knows two people who were given “likelys” and then rejected.

Haha, I just realized that wasn’t very helpful. But I’m pretty sure that a likely is like an acceptance 99% of the time. I haven’t seen anyone actually come forward with a likely that’s been rejected.

For what it’s worth, I was a likely too and I was able to log on and see my acceptance online on the 27th.

I wouldn’t worry if I were you. :)

“Log on”? Were there log-on names? I thought it was all going to be via snail mail…

Well, with the likely thing, it’s like… They said they would consider you based on your “continued high level of academic performance”, but they don’t get any additional information from you between the EE review time and the RD review time. Soooo, I think you’re fine. I got a likely and I got accepted. Don’t worry.

I got a “likely” too, and I’m still nervous. My mom keeps putting Wellesley on the list of schools I’ve been accepted to when she talks to people, and I have to keep reminding her that I haven’t actually been accepted yet…honestly, I’m kind of afraid that her assuming I’ve been accepted has jinxed me, haha. :]

that happened to me too ajlangs!
i refused to tell anyone what schools i was even applying to for fear of jynxing it haha

Oh, I told people–but I absolutely refused to buy anything from the schools I visited. That just seems to be asking for rejection. And besides, how much would it suck to be suck with a sweatshirt from a school that rejected you?

haha, normally I’m not this superstitious, but the college process does weird stuff to people. :]

I’m a likely, but I can’t seem to log into the site to access my decision >_<
But on the other hand, I did get a course selection catalogue in the mail.

Should I be worried?? God, I’m becoming so paranoid =-="

ajlangs - I wouldn’t be too anxious, I’m sure that a likely = yes, seeing as everyone I know who has gotten a likely is now accepted.
My parents were skeptical too, and then the envelope showed up…
you’ll see what I’m saying soon enough, I’m very confident.

haha i told people eventually, i was too excited to keep it to myself for long :]

i really hope a likely does equate a yes, i just wish that Wellesley was a little less mysterious about this whole EE deal. Maybe it’s just me.
I know they kept looking at my application after I got a likely though because my counselor told me that they asked for my second term grades. I kept everything above a 95 though, so hopefully that looks good.
I’m probably psyching myself out haha…

I’m Canadian so I got to log on with the internationals :)

I agree, vcm, they are way too mysterious with EE. I mean, really! I’d like some percents–how many get accepted after having received a “likely” and things like that. :]

I was a likely, and was accepted. During my time at Wellesley, I have not heard of any stories of likely’s being rejected. I feel like you would have had to do something very bad to be rejected after being granted a likely.

Good luck!

I’m actually very pleased with EE, considering other colleges don’t give you ANY indication until now-ish. Getting a likely in February helped relieve a lot of stress on my end.

I got my financial aid info today and I am not pleased. They expect my family to pay 8k more than Wesleyan and 6k more than bowdoin. I guess it’s time to say goodbye to Wellesley… lol Well I am still waiting from Northwestern and Amherst so yeah…

Hm, when I talked to an admissions officer, she said that EE likely pretty much does equate acceptance… that I can pretty much go ahead and order my plane ticket for the spring open house! So I wouldn’t worry if I were you!

And I’m so sorry to borrow this thread but I have another question…
Do you guys know what grade point average you need to maintain for senior year? Both unweighted and weighted.

I have 5 AP classes and in 4 of them I have Bs and only in 1 class do I have an A… am I playing it too close?

I think the general gist is that Bs and Cs are fine but Ds and Fs aren’t.
