Earlier this year I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and mild depression. Since January, they've been trying to find medication to put me on. Unfortunately, the newest one has caused extreme insomnia, and the lack of sleep (maybe 2 hours a night) is really affecting my grades. Since these are the final grades of my junior year, I'm really worried. (my math especially is uncharacteristically low - at about an 79 as opposes to my usual high 90s) I've colleges say if there is a major discrepancy in grades, you should explain it in your application, but I also know colleges may take the anxiety/depression negatively. Should I explain this in my applications, or leave it be? Sorry this was so long.

Bumppppppp

No explanation would be worse than anxiety/depression, which is reasonably common. What they’ll want to know is that you’ve figured out a way to manage it – so that’s the priority, in my opinion
Advice worth every centyou didn’t pay for it, of course!

Thank you!

(What I meant was – it’s better to talk abotu anxiety and depression – than to give no explanation. Now, don’t go on and on about it – that would say “I’m still so worried about it I can’t think about anything else!” – but focus on strategies that you’re going to use to keep it from keeping you down. Rooting for you here!!)
