Schools to which I have applied Regular Decision
-Cooper Union
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology
-Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)
-Cornell (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)
-Macaulay Honors College (the campus I am picking is City College, the only one that provides engineering)
-Polytechnic Institute of NYU
-Manhattan College

Please Chance me, I would really like to get into the top five in that order! Please chance me and I will chance back! Just leave me a link!

I was like, hmmm i coulda sworn i chanced this already lmao, but then i realized i did except now you included your whole list :D

like i said with coop, the numerical part of your stats is a little iffy, butttt (like i said) ecs should boost your app a little. or a lot. depending on how much the specific college looks @ your scores.

-Cooper Union - reach (just b/c they use the numerical formula thing that i posted on your other thread)
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology - ahhh high reach
-Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program) - reach (once again, their first round of elimination is probably the numbers)
-Cornell (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)
-Macaulay Honors College (the campus I am picking is City College, the only one that provides engineering) – ahh i dont know anything about this college
-Polytechnic Institute of NYU - match
-Manhattan College - i want to say match, but i don’t know that much about it, sooo don’t go based on me

[thread=830377]Chance me! :slight_smile: Will chance back [/thread]

From my point of view, it seems that you took the most rigorous courses possible (honors and AP’s). It seems like you have a strong passion for robotics and engineering (correct me if I’m wrong?) and I think personally that your financial status and URM status really helps you out.

I would say all are within reach. Cornell, Columbia, and MIT are a bit sketch but if you write some really great essays, I think you might be able to make a solid application!
Best of luck~

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/833774-chance-me-northwestern-vanderbilt-please.html</a></p>

I would advise you to take the ACT sometimes people do drastically better on one test than on the other. To honest I think your ECs can boost you to slightly a higher level than your grades or test scores, so if you boost your test scores you may open more options up for yourself.

I did… got a 25 :(, Didnt think it was worth mentioning…

MIT-not a chance sorry

the last 3 schools on your list will not be a problem though

chance me bck! thanks

You have a fighting chance at all of them, but it will be tough for MIT, Cornell, Columbia, and especially Cooper Union…

I’d say your in at City, Polytech and Manhattan, though!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/834052-nervous-urm-new-test-scores-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

“You have a fighting chance at all of them, but it will be tough for MIT, Cornell, Columbia, and especially Cooper Union…”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Why is it that when I opened a thread for Cooper alone the majority of the people said “High Match” and occasionally “Low Reach” and now Cooper is a flat out reach?

anyone else please!?

Well, Cooper Union pays the tuition of those who get accepted.

Even people with perfect SAT scores have only a crap shoot. I wasn’t saying it was tough for you, it is really tough for everyone.

People who are saying it is a match probably don’t know NYC or Cooper Union…

i dont know about these schools but what ive heard from a director of admission is that they would bump your gpa depending on how competitive your high school is.
i believe first generation going to college helps too

hope this helps
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/834208-my-rd-chances-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

hey. Thanks for chancing me.
And don’t be too worried, I got a 27 on the ACT. I hate standardized tests. But I think you have a good shot at all of them. If it helps, you can look at my stats to compare to other schools because i got rejected from Hopkins ED. (If that helps) Just make your essays amazing and you have a good shot. The only reaches are Columbia, Cornell, and MIT. You are definitely a match for NYU.

I think that you have a good chance of getting into all of those schools except MIT and Cornell because of your test scores. NYU is definitely a match for you though.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/832752-chances-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

MIT and columbia are ur only really high reaches. the rest are good matches for you goood luck!!!

Wow you’re a strong applicant! SAT scores seem a little weak but your EC’s and strong AP strong totally balance it out. And your URM status is an awesome refreshment for your intended major. Colleges with capitalize on that to increase their diversity which is not a bad thing for you. You seem like a great candidate for all those schools and I am sure they’ll offer your instant admission. However, MIT seems like a SLIGHT reach because they strongly focus on high SAT scores  PS, Columbia has a GREAT civil engingeering program. Great choice! =)

I’m sorry but I don’t think you have much of a chance at Cooper, MIT, or Columbia SEAS. You’re applying for Civil Engineering, but your SAT Phys+Math 1 grade is really low. Also your APs are nice, but none of them really relates to Civil Engineering.
Macaulay honors is a reach. City College is the hardest cuny honor and the fact that it’s free tuition means you’re matched up against the toughest students in the city.
RPI is a high match, and NYU-Poly and Manhattan college is a match.

Because of your background and the robotics , you are a really interesting applicant - kudos to you.

Cooper - reach, because they are very number oriented - the awesomeness of your background/EC may not be enough here.

Fu Foundation - range ( so long as you convey your love for robotics in the why engineering question and your 500 word essay is as solid as it sounds you might write it)

MIT - yes, very high reach - they are more number oriented than Cooper from what I know.

Cornell - reachy but prob less than Cooper or MIT

Macaulay - range

Poly NY - should be safe.

Manhattan - never hear of it =(

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/838890-international-student-chance-me-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Cooper - Mid reach
MIT - High reach
Columbia - Mid reach
Cornell - Low reach (Pretty sure you don’t qualify for HEOP, your income may be low but your SAT scores need to be lower, like 1250 combined)
Macaulay - Match
Poly - In
Manhattan - In

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/837444-chance-me-nyu-suny-bing-bu-cornell-aem-macaulay-baruch.html</a></p>

Oh man. Good luck getting into those super-tough schools. I have faith! And I hope you get great financial aid.

Hard to say what your chances are because you do have hooks, but I don’t know how to quite use them. You’re def in at Poly (from what you’ve told us) and probably City College too…hopefully. If it’s truly free tuition like FJZhou said.

-Cooper Union - match
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology - no
-Columbia University - reach
-Cornell - reach
-Macaulay Honors College - match
-Polytechnic Institute of NYU - match
-Manhattan College - in

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/831894-chance-person-worst-grades-site-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

While you have lower SATs, you have an interesting background that you have translated into good essays. Overall, you do have an application that balances itself out. Furthermore, being a URM wanting to pursue engineering well help loads.

-Cooper Union- Reach, it is for everyone. However, because you do live in NYC that might help you because they have very limited housing…
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology- Reach, it is for everyone. But they do use a system that portrays your applicant in the best light.
-Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)- Mid Reach
-Cornell (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)- Low Reach
-Macaulay Honors College (the campus I am picking is City College, the only one that provides engineering)- Not sure
-Polytechnic Institute of NYU- Match
-Manhattan College- Match
