I don't have mine yet.. I think they've received my complete documentation today.

I was just wondering around how much I should expect, and am wondering what awards other people with 0 EFC have received.

I am eligible for full costs, but got $2000 short. I called the finaid office this morning and was told I’d be getting a new eFAN in a few weeks because there was some programming error. I’ll be getting aid for the full amount, but I think that might be a specific case because I’m a part of Regents, but you should expect to be covered for a majority. Hope you got outside scholarship money to keep for yourself!

^ How did you know you were short? Like they only gave you a package that was about 24000?

Yes, basically, just did some quick arithmetic and decided to see what was wrong

Was everyone (with EFC 0) given a package total of 26710 (I think) ?

The COA is $26410

…lol @ priceyness

OH, I see… My total gift aid was around 17000.

I’m assuming the fact that I’m in a double plaza with the 19P plan is about to bite me in the butt since it’s not calculated into the COA?

Housing fees and a lot of other expenses are counted in the coa. Whip out a pencil and start adding up everything, like tuition+housing+meal plan+whatever, and see how much you really do need.

In response to Oyster, I think regents covered most of your tuition. I didn’t get it for LA however, so I’m hoping that my total gift aid will be around that of silvercross’s (assuming he doensn’t have regents?

^ Me? Regents? Hahahaha… I was that borderline person that got extra questions for additional information.

I think it gets confusing to use the terms “tuition” and “cost of attendance” interchangably.

For in-state students, tuition is a bit above $8k. For out-of-state students, it’s painfully more expensive. Tuition would be the university fees, I guess.

The $26k is an overestimation of what it might cost to attend the school for a year. Some people take more classes, thus would spend more on books, some might have singles in De Neve, and spend more on housing, and etc. I don’t think it’s usual to need the whole $26k…

Technically there is no “tuition” at UCs… We just pay a lot fees and registration =D

I got my eFAN and it covered all 26k of the costs through a combination of the scholarship recognition award, cal grant, pell grant, perkins loan, stafford loans (subsidized and a smaller unsubsidized loan of about 1.3k), and work-study (about 2.3k).

I sent in my verification forms almost two months ago and they still haven’t posted my eFAN yet… I called and they said to wait til the second week of August D:

For those that have received the eFAN, are your awards similar to your ePAL?

Similar to Silvercross, I was awarded about $17000 in grants (about 5k Pell grant, and 12K Academic scholarship grant)

I really am envious of all you in-state students. I have to pay so much more.
