My D sent in her ED application last week, and I'm wondering if any of the other visitors to the Pomona forum have applied, or have offspring who have applied ED for the class of 2014. We need some company for the long wait! She is crazy about Pomona, so the suspense is intense.

Yep. Same boat here. She is already counting down days until December 15. I am predicting a very stressful time around our house.

I applied early decision! It is a relief to have my application turned in, but waiting isn’t much better!

I applied Early Decision as well.
I’m sure I’m the same as your daughter. I cannot wait until the decision comes. Hoping for good news!

So it’s 9am, and I couldn’t sleep tonight. So I spent about 6 hours reading all the Pomona threads in this forum, since 2004.

It feels like this year there is a disproportionately low amount of posts, interest, and overall activity in Pomona and the Pomona forum here on College Confidential.

CC doesn’t really reflect upon the actual applicant pool of course, but I have to admit I feel better about my own application if there isn’t a large amount of applications.

And December 15th cannot come fast enough. I think I’ll be totally crushed if I get rejected. I spent so much time reading about dorms, the town of Claremont, Some Curst the bakery (looks AMAZING), and everything else year it’ll be terrible if I don’t get to go.

I think I’m being a little crazy now.

The Chronicle of Higher Ed reports that Pomona’s ED apps increased by only 2% this year. Much better than last year’s whopping increase. So if there are any other ED hopefuls out there, you can breathe a small sigh of relief on this one.

Oops - wrong source! I thought I could remember where I read that, but it was from Inside Higher Ed instead: [News: Another Increase for Early Decision - Inside Higher Ed](http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2009/11/24/early) Sorry to anyone who went looking!

Not a lot of Pomona ED applicants on CC this year.
Well I’m extremely nervous, excited, and whatever else adjective that applies. Dec 15 needs to come. Soon!

Or even sooner! Good luck to all!

I am applying ED2. Good luck all!

Welcome Dolphin! It’s very quiet around here, but I guess that’s because all the Pomona prospies are out there doing great things in the world. My D is absolutely sure she’ll get a decision on the 15th, and I’m trying to convince her it may not work out that way. When will that letter come???

My daughter also applied ED. The next 8 days cannot go by fast enough. I think I read that last year they did not mail until 12/15 so people found out even later than that…did anybody else see this?

It isn’t cool that most everyone on this list is female. My understanding is that it’s SOOOOO much harder for girls to get in than boys right now because the schools are trying to keep things 50/50 but girls are applying at a much higher rate.

Anyway, here’s hoping…:)

Will they e-mail us their decisions? Or post them online? Does anyone know the general protocol?

Decisions are mailed. Acceptances are sent priority mail in large white envelopes. In the past, decisions have been mailed a few days earlier than the 15th.

Heh Aapreciate. I’m a male, and not gonna lie, I am quite happy it’s easier for me to get in.
Mailed?! No email?

My husband, son and I were talking last night-----------wondering when the letter might come??? I think I am going to tell my mail carrier to call me if he plans on delivering a big envelope to my son next Tuesday.

That’s correct - no e-mail, although I do believe they might sent an e-mail message to international students abroad to alert them since the mail can take longer.

My S’s high school got a call today asking for 1st quarter grades…is this a good or bad sign?

They would not take the time to call if his application was not still being considered. Our son’s GC was called before he received an acceptance; however, I recall reading that the GCs of students who were deferred had also been called. It’s a good sign that his file is still alive.

Good luck to all who are waiting.

They should have the first quarter grades already. Are you sure your son’s app. was complete?
