Any 2016-2017 USC RHP applicants?

I’m planning on applying but I’m not sure how good my chances are now that I’ve seen all of these other statistics.

I’m planning on applying, but application is pretty overwhelming because there are so many parts.
looking at the stats of accepted applicants is really helpful though thanks @crawfordk for posting the link

Does anyone know how many students typically apply to RHP?

I feel like I have the necessary leadership experience and extracurriculars to back up my interest in my planned field of study, but I’m not quite sure yet as to how “extraordinary” my GPA and SAT scores will be.

Typically, 75-150 people apply, and they accept 20-30 (I called them for this information). It’s about the same acceptance rate for regular freshman admission for USC.

Thanks movielover123!
So, are there any new applicants? How are y’all coming along with your applications?

Just finished my application and sending it in tomorrow. How are everyone else’s applications going?

My son turned in his application a few days ago.

I’m excited to see if I get accepted. How do you guys feel about your apps?

I think I did pretty well on the essays and my leadership activities are pretty okay, but I’m mostly worried that I’m not very competitive SAT and grade wise.

My biggest fear is that I forgot to include something or that they judge my application based on when I submitted it.

@movielover123 @BaoBaoXiongMao Would you share your stats. Curious to see how my son would stack up

They’re not that impressive, but sure.
SAT: 2140 (first time) - 770 Reading, 700 Math, 670 Writing
GPA: 4.44 W/3.82 UW
Rank: I’m most likely top 10% (it’s not released to us until the end of the semester) of a class of 828. My school would be classified as academically competitive.
Organizations/leadership: NHS, 10 years of dancing at ABS, 3 year FBLA Chapter officer (current position: Reporter), FBLA TX Area 5 Reporter-Historian, FBLA TX Reporter-Historian’s Council Member, National Chinese Honor Society President, Chinese Club Founder and President, and co-organizer for an elementary school supply drive for a socioeconomically disadvantaged school district
Awards: 1st place FBLA Area 5/Districts, 2nd place FBLA State, 4th place FBLA Nationals, Future Level Business Achievement Award
Applied major: International Relations (Global Business)
Thoughts on application as a whole:

  • I think I definitely showed my interest in my chosen major (my extracurriculars definitely help) and I feel like I did well on that separate RHP application.
  • My GPA and SAT aren’t very competitive, but it can’t be helped at this point. It just makes me kinda feel bad since there are people who are rank 1 in their grade level who are also applying.
  • I think my essays were thoughtful and conveyed my passion for the subjects I decided to discuss. There was also this one short answer that I really liked writing, so I hope that one was okay.
  • My transcript clearly shows that I’ve taken a rigorous array of courses (AP, PreAP/GT) since entering high school and I’m currently in 5 AP classes and 1 PreAP.

In the end, I certainly hope that I will be chosen for RHP. It won’t be the end of the world, but I might cry a bit (mostly from the stress of thinking about future college apps, I assure you). Anyways, I wish everyone the best of luck!

Impressive! Good lu.ck to you

got a letter in the mail acknowledging the receipt of application and a USC magazine

Has anyone gotten a response from USC?

I received a confirmation that they had received my application, but otherwise, no. They probably won’t start sending out stuff until March.

Has anyone else gotten a request for mid-year grades?

Oh wait. Yeah. I did. I’ve already submit them.

I got a financial aid email today did anyone get this as well?
