any AB Duke finalists?

................................

wheeeeee :D

is that a yes? cuz if it is im soooo jealous....

Yes, I did get an invite... but getting the scholarship is another matter. At least there's a trip down! Now I get to visit twice in April. :)

when did you get the letter?

yesterday, fedex

I Want One!

qubic, tell us about yourself. Also, was this an "overnight delivery" letter?

Yea, got it here. Arrived by Fedex Thursday, i wasn't home, so I got it today: Friday. Postmarked on March 2nd.

Wondering: how is this scholarship different than that other scholarship(see other thread)? And why is the campus visiting dates (March 31 to April 2) different from those other things?

Same as firebird for me, delivered yesterday, wasn't home, got it today. I think both scholarships are similar in benefits (full tuition, summer program), but are funded by different groups and possibly have different criteria. I noticed the other thread mentioned 120 semi-finalists that go down to 15, while this one has 45 that go down to 15.

turtle-Robertson is both Duke + UNC, so it's 60 finalists per school that goes down to 15 per school.

I looked at the web sites for both scholarships. AB Duke seems to be kids who are really focused academically, maybe the Intel Science Fair types. Robertson seems to be more about leadership + community service. That might be completely wrong, though.

Congrats to those who are AB Duke finalists! The Oxford program seems incredible.

An AB Finalist, by definition, is someone who passed Calculus AB with a 5.

So I think most of us are AB Finalists.

hahaha

Haha, I guess Duke applicants aren't too strong at math. Of 18,000 or so applicants, only 45 got 5s on AP Calc AB. Sucks for all of those kids who went straight to BC.

You guys cant be serious. I applied to Duke and got a 5 on both the AB (not-subscore) and BC exams :)

i got a 5 on the BC and a 5 for the AB subscore too, but i guess they dont see that...

yeah i did intel... and some other science stuff too
and art/music/etc :)

you realize that they were just kidding right...
tons of people have 5 on the AB

yea, wow, lol, i feel stupid : (

if we dont go visit duke during that weekend of march 31 - april 3, are our chances of getting the money basically blown?

(i ask because I dont think I can go)

I suck at math and am an AB finalist...
I wish I had been a Robertson instead! (I have many more leadership/extracurricular things)
