My application was submitted to Penn State on November 12th. My status message changed to the new status message (Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.) a few days ago. I have heard no word from them yet, and do not anticipate a decision until January as I have heard people who are borderline/mid-range will hear last. I know of two students from my high school that were accepted to University Park in October. They are stellar students, but unfortunately I do not know their SAT/GPA. One of them is probably ranked 1 or 2 out of the 253 in our class.

I am going nuts, too! I check the application status several times a day even though I know they only update it once. After thoroughly reading this forum though, I agree that at this point, no news is good news!

Here are my stats-

Anyone have an idea of if I'll get accepted to University Park? I applied Undecided-DUS for Summer semester.

Well I now think I am definetly doomed......I'm 3.45 UW, not sure about weighted....I have 7 honor courses and 2 APs (maybe 3.6, maybe higher???) and best SAT score is a 1180/1600 and 1760/2400...many ECs including varstiy tennis (captain), track and sailing, International Club, Spanish Club, blah, blah, blah...........I did NOT put down an alternative campus OR apply for summer. Application was sent mid October. So far, I've been accepted to UVM, UNH and Hofstra and am waiting on many more, but UP is my first choice........do you think I have a chance at all????

I'm new to this site but it's really helping me breathe easy, I'm much more aware of what's going on with admissions. I really can't wait to hear back from UP! I applied late Sept., but my school only sent in my transcript mid November. They have had everything in for a few weeks now...I'm not gonna push it but hopefully soon :)

I am really nervous though...I have a 3.8 GPA W and 1920/2400 on my SAT's.. I'm guessing this puts me in the middle 50th%? anyone with anything similar to that hear back or is waiting?

I got into University Park last week. I had a 3.32 unweighted and a 3.63 weighted. My school does not rank. My SATs were R-550 M-790 W-620. I am from New Jersey so the geographical proximity was a good help. My extracirriculars included all area volleyball and 4 years of FBLA. I am also got the most spirited superlative at our school and I know how Penn State loves most spirited kids haha.

My son attends a competitive pre-school. That being said has a 3.6 GPA. Lots of volunteer hours, over 50 each year. Works part time and has a heavy course load. He is ADHD so not a good test taker. SATs
1180/1600
1750/2400
26 ACT
Penn State was his first choice, and he did select summer. I guess they wont even consider him for summer.

Was your son applying for a very competitive college/major like Smeal or Engineering?
Because with stats like that, within the 50% range, i would think he would have at least been offered summer.

so is it actually a good thing if you didnt hear yet. does that mean you will probably be offered a summer position, since people have been getting denied?

Hmm, I dunno. My D only chose fall and has not been denied or accepted yet from PSU UP - her #1 school choice. She has been accepted with $15.5K and $24K academic scholarships at two other institutions. Waiting...

3.72, 1510/2400SAT, tons of EC's and volunteer and work experience (filled up the whole activities sheet) and i applied for the college of education summer session. I am a PA resident from a really good public school

I have 4.0, 1880/2400, pleanty of EC's, mostly all honors or AP through high school. I am PA resident and applied to Smeal College of Business. Checked summer session as well, do you think I'll be alright???? Good luck to you too by the way

yeah your gonna be in easily, yeah i took 9 honors classes and 1 AP, so i think my rigorous secondary schedule will help, especially since 2/3 of the decision is based on GPA and we both are real good in that category, its my SATs that will bite me in the butt ha
