my s got terrific merit aid - but he got in the honors college and a scholarship from the school he was accepted into. Plus we're in-state. I know we are very lucky - many of my son's friends are out of state and paying full freight.
For those with a good profile, try for Schreyer and call the school you're applying to for info on scholarship. Some don't start until junior year.
Also, NMS finalists get a small first year scholarship.

Okay, anyone else get an acceptance letter for UP in the past few days?

The suspense is killing me (and my son!) -- so depressing to hear that some people heard more than a week ago while most of us are still waiting.

Anyone hear anything new on when we should start hearing?

I was totally expecting mine would come today, but it didn't. I'm in-state and I live like half an hour from UP, my app was complete the first week of September, and still nothing. I know I'm basically a shoe-in, but still, it's gonna be a lonnnnng November until I get that letter :P I'm also super jealous because a lot of my friends applied to Altoona and have had their acceptances for a while.

Sandmitch, do you know if your friends got their letters first or were their acceptances posted to the website first? I know this question has been asked before, but it doesn't seem as if anyone has an answer... just curious.

I actually called the admissions office today and the lady there told me that they don't start reviewing applications for UP until November 30th.

that is false as numerous people have already heard back of their acceptance to UP already.

yeah I know, that's why I thought it was strange when she told me that.

I got into UP last friday!

This worries me seeing that some people sent in their apps September and still haven't gotten any word back. I sent my stuff in November 30th. Anyone know when i may get an answer?

I think you mean Oct 30th

I am from OOS and I know a couple of people who have also heard back and got into UP. I also know people who have gotten into other campuses. I sent in my app at the end of Sept. My PSU account said that my application was being reviewed the first week of Oct and when I checked my account last week it said that I had been accepted in UP.

Just give it some time!

Congratulations, Margirl21! That's terrific! Now, would you settle a debate for me - did you get your letter before your acceptance was posted to the website or after??

Thanks and Congrats on getting in. Im really anxious

It was posted on the website first. I still haven't gotten a letter

Thanks for putting that debate to rest. We're in Virginia too!

i got my letter first. i even checked mypennstate account the day after i got my letter and it still said being review. however, now on mypennstate it says ... "While a packet of materials will be in the mail to you shortly, I hope that the information provided here will help give you a head start on thinking about your offer to Penn State."

so it sounds like you should find out through mypennstate first... even though i didn't haha

Congrats Akittka When do you apply? Also if you wouldnt mind what was your GPA and SAt

I almost wish they didn't have the online results. I check it like four times a day, as I'm sure others are doing :P

Oh really? That's exciting!

If it helps, a lot of the people who applied towards the middle/end of Sept are starting to hear back from my school. The people who have applied in the beginning and middle of Oct still don't even have their MY-PSU accounts saying that their application is being reviewed. I think its partially because my school sends out transcripts in bulks. Also, there are about 30 kids from my school applying to PSU-UP. That info might help you out! Good luck!!

yeah i applied late september with good stats... 4.2 gpa, 33 ACT. so i think that's why i heard back so quickly. and i saw your stats on some other thread. i think you have a good shot considering your dad went there and your gpa is high.

did you apply for summer session?
