Major: Materials Science and Engineering (part of the Earth Sciences college, weird...)
GPA: 3.42 UW
Rank: 161/510
SAT: 2180 (800 Math, 640 Reading, 740 Writing, 11 Essay)
School: Best public school in the county, average ACT is 28.
Classes: In total, 10 honors and 5 APs in my high school career. I'm taking or have taken all of the AP science/math courses available to me at my school, but none of the humanities/history/foreign language APs. I always thought it was more important to be passionate than well-rounded.

Other:
OOS (Tennessee)
Hispanic (dad is Salvadorian, mom is Mexican, however I was born in the U.S.)
My passion is bowling, I bowl in a Saturday morning league, for my school team, and I have won a few city tournaments and 1 state tournament, never made it to junior nationals though :(
I did the optional essay and wrote about the 3 weeks I spent in an engineering program at Michigan Tech

I'm so excited! Penn State is currently my #2 college (Virginia Tech is #1), but if PSU gives me scholarships I may end up going here...

Congratulations to all of you! I'm guessin' I won't find out til February..I applied before the deadline but all my materials weren't in on time.

I called admissions and the lady said that my major had been switched, but that change wouldn't have appeared on the site. She also guarantees that a decision will be made by Friday, so I have a little more hope.

i applied smeal, still haven't heard anything..
3.68 gpa w (uw not much difference)
2 honors classes, 3 ap's
1 current penn state class (philosophy) at penn state abington

puts me at a rough blue bubble on the chart..
i'm seriously hoping that i get in.
i don't even care if i go to smeal now, i didn't know it was going to be the hardest to get into. i wish i'd applied undecided.

some of my friends and i are waiting too. my one friend with lower stats got accepted back in november, so i'm pretty annoyed.
for those considering altoona, have you seen it yet? because 3 of my friends in the class of 2012 transferred after this first semester because they didn't like it at all.
