congrats! i got accepted for biomedical engineering. i got the deans scholar schoarlship for 15,000

drexel does their scholarship stuff so weird... i started out as a dean's scholar for 13k/year and then i got AJ Drexel for 16k/year... i wish they were added together instead of replacing one another cuz i dont know if that scholarship money is gonna be enuff, im gonna have to sit down with a financial aid person and try and work somethin out... but it looks like ill be going to drexel next fall regardless of what my other colleges say. the only reason is because of the 5 year bs/mba program though, no other colleges can offer that no matter what scholarship i got

still waiting to hear from babson, boston college, and univ. southern california

i agree^ oh well though they only have so much money to give

so how did it work out? do the DEAN and AJ DREXEL scholarships replace each other? can you apply for the AJ every year or just the first year you get in there? i am a trnasfer from a local community college. i got accepted and 12K for the DEAN schlshp but i missed out on the AJ though (wasn't aware of it til the deadline has passed).
So those who got the AJ could you please share some experience on the interview? thanks

the AJ replaces the Dean because it is usually a couple thousand more. That sucks about missing the deadline. How it works i believe is that as long as you meet some kind of minimum standards you get the same amount each year. Im not sure whether you can apply for it later considering that it is a merit scholarship and therefore used primarily to entice still deciding students.

I got into drexel, and im afraid im going so watch out. Film!

the engineering dean called me last night to talk about the money situation after my family appealed our financial aid decision. drexel reps are coming to my school this weekend for a college fair so he set me up with appointments to talk to them... i am nervous! hoping for a bit more $$ so i can be in philly next year... =)

xokon, i am going to appeal the financial aid too. please keep me updated about the outcome of your case.

The thing that sucks the most is that you can not improve the financial aid pacakge every year, which means even if you do extremely great in school, they will still only offer UPTO the same amount that they gave you in the first year. so it is best to get as much as you can the first time.
i heard in your fifth year, you have to pay 1.5 time the tuition because it is without coop. yet, the PHEAA state grant (for those Pennsylvanians) only gives you money for the first 4 years. So in the last year you will be getting screwed real bad on the bill. i dont even want to think about it

hey nietsi, did you appeal? i got an extra 2500 from the appeal for "travel expenses" (thats how i described it in the letter). dr. guceri (engineering) then reviewed my file and basically turned my scholarship into full tuition.... so im paying for room and board. hope everything went well...

hope to see everyone in the fall =)

congratulation bro!!! that's neat!! i am preparing the appeal letter now.
