i want to do more extracurricular activity for my college application...especially any activity related to science ,like ecology and astronomy.. is there any thing that i can do ??? i heard that people can join the science olympiad,or any science competition. however,i dont know how to find the "paths" to join these activity!

I think you have to make a real effort to do something really science-y. Try to volunteer at a local lab or university over the summer, especially if anyone you know has contacts at these places.

For the science competitions, I think you just have to see if your school has a team. If they do, try out for it, and if they don't and you really want to do it, talk to a teacher about sponsoring the club and recruit a couple of people in your school to do it with you.

Whatever you do, you are probably going to have to take the initiative.

Science fair, labs idea is good. My D did both, the lab thing worked out very well, since it was not a family connection or a pay for the priviledge kind of thing one can get if you have the money and can get into some of those programs.
