I think reading the book is pointless. I honestly don't see the connection with what he talks about in lecture and the book. Also the homework looks really different. It's hard as it doesn't really reflect what is covered in lecture and book...and lastly the midterms...What is the curve like, is it competitive? Can I pass the midterm with minimum studying based on the curve? I think the only way to study for it is to review the past midterms.
Everything he covers in lecture is so easy but when it comes to hw ,quizzes and exams, it just looks so different...

That’s the observation everyone makes.

The course is about truly understanding how signals work. You see examples in lectures, and you see examples in books, but they’re really the same once you understand. Keep on studying.

Also, definitely do bring up this concern to Babak during his office hours. He will go into detail and help you draw the link.

yeah teresam, I’m feeling the same way you do. (lol I totally called it when I told my friend we were probably going to have a quiz today since Babak’s done at least 1 before the first midterm in past years, too bad I didn’t prepare for it, but I don’t know how you would prepare, I looked at a few past quiz #1 from last Spring and fall after class was over, and many of the questions were easier in the sense that they seemed more computational)
