You really don’t have to register with the clearinghouse until he’s ready to take OVs. It’s only $80 (?) but you never know if he’ll change his mind or go D3.
^ I agree you don’t need to register with the clearinghouse unless and until you get to the OV stage. It really doesn’t take that long to do. I think my kid registered a week before his OV.
As far as highlights, I would probably wait until the end of junior year. Most specialist recruiting occurs very late in the cycle, so it is not like schools are really thinking about kickers in the junior class at this point. I would look at the websites of your target schools and find out who the area recruiter is for your geographic region and point my communication that way. And there is nothing wrong with sticking a link to the hudl tape in the contact email.
@3kidsMultipleSports has he talked to his coach? on my son’s team the coach is always having college coaches come in. If he knows a boy is interested in playing at the college level, he will promote the kid and help put together the highlight tapes.
Thanks - good information. I’ll wait on the clearinghouse. He has a hudl highlight from games 1-3 (pre district). Figured maybe do another one for district games and then sounds like he should reach out. I know the HS coach had lots of coaches in over spring/summer (I think) so that makes sense too.
