Are there any anthro majors that got into cal or ucla here?
If so,
what was your gpa ...etc?

Thanks.

Are there any anthro majors that got into cal or ucla here?

Thanks.

I applied to the following schools:
Cal - Anthro, B.A.
UCLA - Anthro, B.S.
UCSD - Anthro, concentration in Biological Anthro
UCD - Anthro, B.S.

I was accepted to all schools; for Cal, I was accepted as a Spring admit.

Stats:
G.P.A. - 3.859 (I would've been a 4.0; but I got A- in chem and calc classes)
Applied for Fall '08
IGETC - completed by December '07
Prereqs - All but one class was completed before application process
Extracurriculars - Student body, math club, worked 24 hours/wk
Minor(s) - biology but I may pick up an econ minor or double major

Good luck.

I know three people who got into UCLA and two of them also got into Cal.

student #1 & #2 got into UCLA and Cal
with less than a 3.5 GPA and really good ECs
and of course an equally good essay
student #1 however will be attending USC because of the full ride and extra scholarships offered.

student #3 only got into UCLA.
has less than 3.0 GPA

Your friend got a full ride to USC as a transfer student? Honest, I've never heard of such thing.

that's what she claims.. she's zero efc like me
and wouldn't really be able to afford SC
because of her financial sitch, she was really set on just attending UCLA
luckily, she got a better aid from SC.
she got several other scholarships as a transfer student
and her worry right now is if she'll be getting the same kind of aid next year to continue her studies at a $50k school

I know an Anthro major that had like a 3.2 and got into both Cal (as a spring admit) and UCLA. I think she was somewhat involved on campus.

Anthro is supposed to be a really easy major to get into.

But please, don't aim low because of the stats.

wow this is really scary... I currently have a 3.95 gpa with about 3 W's, all of which I have retaken. I don't have a lot of ECs though.
Prereqs and IGETC will be completed this Fall term.
I'm really trying hard to aim for CAL since my bf goes there and it would be really hard to go to different schools for us.

Sshadid, I don't have a lot of math in my background. I basically have only statistics... Does that count as a factor as well?

I'm just so stressed and worried.

3.95? You have nothing to worry about, I'm sure you'll get in.

I don't know why you're scared, your GPA rocks the average.

It's because I heard even people with 4.0's get rejected... The guy above got 3.8 and he got into SPRING.... I'm just really scared.. plus I have some Ws on my record as well.

I thought 3 Ws was alot when I applied this year. However, I was told by the Berkeley rep that 3 was nothing. I got accepted to Cal for Fall in Political Science with a 3.69 and 3 W's. Your GPA is stronger, obviously. The decision makers likely won't care about the W's if you have a good reason for getting them.

hey RMKing84, where did you write about your Ws? and how did you go about writing them?

There is a section on the application where you explain breaks in your academic career and undesirable academic results. I basically just told them the truth. My first W in a course came about because I had lost my job over the summer. My other two W's came about after I was offered a promotion at my new job a year later.
