Are there any applicants with priority consideration rejected??
It could be either TAP, honors.. anything
Is it even possible to get rejected with priority, given that you have a decent GPA (~3.5 and above)?

a crapload of bus/econ applicants got rejected with TAP

sh......it...
I was asking cuz I wanted to know how "reliable" they were.

you're a shoe in for majors that aren't named communications, biology, and biz/econ

Let's just say choose your alternative major carefully

Tap Rejects, Stats, Now!

3.78
TAP certified
IGETC complete
Missing 1 pre-req for UCLA though which I think was the big negative

Rejected UCLA business econ
Accepted Berkeley econ

How to "shoo-in" to UCLA Bizecon with TAP:

-Aim for higher than the average admitted GPA of prior year
-Complete all of the pre-reqs (If you miss even one, it's automatic denial of admission)
-Get involved in 2 or 3 solid Extracurriculars (Includes student organizations, internships, employment, community service, volunteer)
-Write a solid essay (Make sure to get it edited and rewritten at least three different times before submitting)

If you do all of the above, I will GUARANTEE YOU that you will get into UCLA. If you haven't done any one of these things and got rejected with TAP, you can't complain since you haven't given your best.

you don't need extracurriculars... at least not for uc transfers from ccc
i've seen sooo many people w/o extracurriculars get into ucla

The answer is yes, and one reason for rejection can be lack of EC. People, you have realize that it's not all about GPA's. Especially since UCLA changed their admissions to hollistic approach, they will see you as a whole package, not just numbers. But if you still think EC won't do you any good, feel free to not get involved. But just don't complain when you get rejected.

I honestly don't think that ccc transfers are held to as high of standards as high school students when it comes to EC's. The only EC's I had to claim are 1) I work part time and 2) I was in AGS for one semester. I had no community service and I still got in. I'm not saying that it can't help you, but completion of pre-reqs and a high GPA are the most signficant, IMO.

I'm not saying UCLA holds all factors equal, but it is definitely one factor that UCLA considers for admission. And when I say factor, it means it can be significant enough to decide your admission into UCLA. But I'm sure it will be reflected in your essay since one of the prompts was "What did you do to prepare yourself for the major" and it's not gonna be good enough to merely write about "I got good grades in pre-reqs", which will be noted in your transcript nonetheless.

what if u didnt do crap for your major

Then you will be put at disadvantage to someone who has simliar/identical stats as you (Same GPA, all pre-reqs completed, IGETC certified, same units, etc.).

Reread what I wrote, "How to "shoo-in" to UCLA Bizecon with TAP:"

The purpose of making that post was to tell you guys that UCLA consider all factor into consideration, not just GPA and Pre-req completion. I heard a lot of complaints people with high GPAs and pre-reqs completed who got rejected to UCLA, and they simply assume that UCLA made a mistake. It seemed like lot of them forgot the fact that ECs and "family responsibility" (which were mentioned in the categories of factors UCLA consider for TRANSFER admission) also play roles, and that could be the area that those "Stellar Numbered" applicants lacked in, resulting in rejection.

Just look at my list. It pretty much considers everything (GPA, Pre-req, ECs, Essay).

The message is: Excel in ALL areas, not just GPA and Pre-req, and you WILL get in.

I had crap ECs. Really. I did work, however, at an interesting job.

global studies 3.36 TAP rejected

Just so everyone knows Global studies was the 4th most competitive major this year according to UCLA. A huge jump from last year. Business Econ is #1 like always of course.

Actually in the L&S, the most competitive is Communication Studies, followed by BizEcon. Communication Studies is so bad ass, they don't even consider TAP.

Lies, BizEcon is less competitive than Econ/IAS.

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2007

I win.

Edited to add: Whoa, except for Marine Bio, how did I never notice this?

31 applied, 2 admitted -- 6.45% -- Anyone that did this is badass. I respect you both.

Except it's harder to get into BizEcon (just check out GPA - 3.82 vs 3.70). You can't only look at admit rate to judge competitiveness.. You also have to look at the number and the quality of the applicants.

If you see 1 person accepted out of 10 people with 3.5 GPA vs 200 people accepted out of 1000 people with 3.8 GPA, which would you say is more competitive? In every case, BizEcon is more competitve than Econ/IAS.
