Any benefit from AP Exam if I am not attending to a college in U.S.A?

Hello,

I am currently taking some AP classes in my school and about to take the exams. Since I am going to UK to study where AP are not used to get credits, is it still necessary to take the exams? I am perfectly fine with the exams themselves as they are not hard but I have to spend hundreds of dollars on them in return for nothing which makes me feel not worth it.

The test scores are primarily used to provide college credits at US colleges. If you are a senior going to a specific UK school which did not admit you based on what you are expected to score on AP tests (UK schools give conditional admission to US students and ask them to meet certain scores in some subjects), then it sounds like taking them is unnecessary.

Thank you texaspg. I took some APs last year and got admitted already using those scores. The very only condition left for me is the High School Diploma. I hope my teachers understand my situation and not force me to take the exams.

If you are from US, the standard practice is to take the AP tests which are most applicable to the single school you might attend in US. If you have no fallbacks in US where you might end up, then you shouldn’t have to take them.
