Hi everyone,

I guess there aren't so many Bulgarians on this forum, but anyway I decided to start this thread. So, anyone ?

Me for example :)

That's cool, where r u applying ?

I don't know if I count I am a "Bulgarian Canadian" by definition in other words born in Bulgaria and moved to Canada when I was younger. I'm proud of my Bulgarian heritage though, love Bulgaria and I speak the language very well.

Is anyone applying to AUBG? I'm looking for info on the school ( considering transfering from Canada). Thanks.

i think i'm going to apply to aubg... to go with the flow to say the least... but i haven't checked anything like forms and essays.
martin knows a lot about it however. so i will address any future questions concerning aubg to him.

yes thats correct,
sasha_c if u have any particular questions send me a PM

i am applying for AUBG for the fall semester through ISEP. How competitive would it be for an American with a 3.5 GPA and lots of extra curriculars, etc. to get accepted? The ISEP site says "very limited", but I would hope that is not true. Also, how many courses do students at AUBG take a semester? 4? I just visited Bulgaria with friends in Sofia, and I absolutely loved it!

thanks Martin, I will PM you asap.
But if anyone else has any impressions (like if they'd visited the school or have some kind of direct or indirect experience with it) I would also like to hear them because I haven't spent much time in BG lately and have no idea what the verdict is on that place.
Thanks!

I just visited BG with some friends for two weeks. I absolutely loved it. I had a chance to actually visit AUBG, although it was not an official visit. I did see the town (Blavograd ....spelled this wrong!) and the campus. They are building a new dorm which will be used in the upcoming fall. There is a breath taking square right near the university, as well as many different shops, coffee spots, and there are two or three clubs near by. It is all pretty much in walking distance, although there were cabs all over the place. I would have to say it is the perfect college town, and I am super excited about applying. I really hope that I get in! I am very nervous because I am applying through ISEP and the spaces for ISEP exchange students are limited. I met a lot of people that went there through my friends in Sofia. They said it is excellent for Political Science, International Relations, and EU Studies. They have lots of different courses that cover EU Terminology, EU intergration, etc. I am looking forward to taking some courses there on these subjects. I heard that the language courses and linguistics, etc. are not that competitive. Yet, I heard that there are lots of papers to write, normal final testing like any other American system, etc. I can't really say much more except that I got a very good vibe from the school and from what I have heard. I heard a lot of Albanians go there, and they are the 2nd biggest majority besides Bulgarians, but I heard they are welcoming to the 10 Americans that usually attend each year (haha). I want to attend so bad!

*Blagoevgrad
Nice small city and nice university. Good luck!

Hey Violina, do you think you have a strong chance of getting in Colgate? I'm a freshman and I'm curious about other Bulgarians that might be coming next year... if you have any questions ask; I'd be glad to help.

Hi guys! I'm not bulgarian, but I'm also applying to AUBG (and to a number of American universities as well). So, I wanted to ask whether someone knows how is it ranked in comparisson to the American ones.

Huh, where did all Bulgarians go?

Can someone PLEASE answer my question
how many courses do AUBG students typically take a semester?

i am bulgarian too! and i am class 2012 and i was wondering is anyone here from a non-english scool, becaue i am froma german language school... and i guess applying will be a bit harder from me. so any experience from people in a non-english school?

I graduated from a German Language School as well :)
