Any Canadian 2015ers?

There should be about 40, if things are the same as last year. Anybody here get in from Canada?

TELL ME SOMEBODY GOT IN FROM CANADA.

Yes sir - I’m from Vancouver Island! Couldn’t be happier.

waitlisted…T.T any info on that from last year, misterg?

Rejected by Harvard, waitlisted at Yale and accepted into Columbia.

I posted a few days ago before decisions came down that I’d rather go to Columbia over Harvard (due solely to location) but would’ve really liked to get in, or even get waitlisted, just to say I did.

The curiosity of why I was rejected is killing me. But I’m ecstatic that I got into Columbia.

EDIT: I’m from Atlantic Canada.

YAYYY!!! Congrats to my future underclassmen. emksix, my grandma actually lives in a retirement home in Victoria, which probably isn’t that surprising, what with all the old people there. Are you planning to accept (you should!!!)?

Fatum, that’s still a good thing. A great thing – just affirms how high-quality an applicant you are. Last year I only met one person who had been waitlisted, and she didn’t get in. Don’t give up hope, but try to commit yourself to whichever school you’re planning to go to. CC might not acknowledge this, but Canadian universities are excellent and educate students perfectly for the Canadian world. And, hell, they’re way cheaper. Anyway, keep yourself posted, update the office as much as possible with any news, and best of luck.

ladeornmc, I’m sorry to hear that you were rejected. Columbia, though, is an excellent school (especially with its financial aid for Canadians!). And you can’t beat Morningside Heights. Don’t worry about getting to “say that you did” – it doesn’t really make a difference. You should definitely go to Columbia, and don’t obsess about your reasons for rejection – believe me, I did the same thing with Yale (ARGH I SHOULD HAVE SENT MY EXTRA REC LETTER AND ARTS SUPPLEMENT!!!), and it ain’t worth it. Haha. Congratulations :)

ANYONE ELSE???

Right here! From Toronto =D

Yayayayayay theEngimaaa  you go Toronto! congrats and so great to hear that :)

Attention to prefrosh: no matter what they say, FIP isn’t worth doing. Just don’t do it. Do Dorm Crew or one of the actually fun, exciting preorientations.

I heard 20 kids from TO got in! Represent! =D

oh man, 20 of you? Maybe I should go to UBC…

Kidding, of course. Go Canada!

theEnigmaaa, that sounds about right from last year. definitely be sure to go to the admit celebration evening… last year’s was great. (btw, congrats on everything – I just read back through our private messages haha) and emksix, y’all don’t know. y’all just don’t know.

any of you guys athletes? there seem to be a lot of recruited canadian athletes in the class of 2014

no, I’m not an athlete. misterg, are there many west-coasters in your class?

nope not even close to being an athlete. I’m still waiting on my acceptance in the mail. Keeping my fingers crossed for an ample fin aid package!

emksix, I’d have to say there are probably somewhere from two to ten kids from BC, at least three of whom were athletes. two kids from the mainland who’re pretty intense nonathletes (one got a likely). don’t know of anyone from victoria really.

theEnigmaaa, my acceptance letter took a week to arrive, haha. could be a long wait for you. I posted in your other thread the number for the financial aid office – if your package isn’t there monday try to call them.

a rough geographical breakdown: probably about 10 BC kids, three or four AB, one SK, 22-25 ON, 2 QC, remainder from Atl provinces. Ontario really predominates.

Thank you misterg! :)

Yeah, thanks misterg!

bumpppp, any more Canadians? :)

Hey misterg, do most Canadians (or international students at Harvard, for that matter) receive financial aid?

Yes! All internationals are eligible for aid.

Umm, then what is the percentage of Canadians who do receive financial aid?

…lol, I don’t have that info. Harvard’s need blind so the percentage doesn’t matter. there are definitely lots of people from canada here on financial aid
