,I JUST WANNA GET IN!LOL...Economics/Business/finance major......ANY CHANCE AT GW AT ALL???????????????????? (EA)

I don’t think so. You have too many C’s and the admissions officer said that the lowest SAT they acccepted this year was a 1980, so your SAT’s are too low, too. However, you really never do know. You will be viewed within the context of your school and country’s education system. Good luck and apply anyway.

Since you are a foreign student, it’s hard to understand how people are graded in your country. Where are you from? How are your grades in relation to your peers? If you were American, I would say, forgot about it. There would be no chance of them accepting you with so many C’s on your record. IF the grading system works differently, you should explain this to admissions. If not, there are lots of good schools you can still apply to.
One factor that really works against you are your SAT’s. Extremely low for GW. You should really try to boost them, or perhaps see if you can do better on the ACT. Some people find that exam more agreeable. Best of luck. Things always work out the way they are meant to be in the end.

haha..thanks ppl…the avg SAT score in my country is around 1400…a 1720-1900 wud be higher than most ppl in my country…my school is a private international school…AND my uncle went to GW…come on ppl work with me here:D:D:D…lol thanks

Honestly I can’t say (and neither can anyone else). Knowing whether you are applying ED or Regular would really help and so would knowing which country you are coming from-GW is trying to increase diversity.

And I really doubt that the lowest score was 1980. One of the two of you is lying.

umm i got in as a sophomore transfer with a 1510 SAT… so even though i wans’t in the freshman class that is def not the lowest SAT score they have accepted

Lobzz-
I don’t think the fact that your uncle went to GW makes you legacy. I believe legacy is only if a parent went to a particular school.
And, I was really asking about the grading system for your GPA in your country, not the SAT. The SAT is the SAT - the same for everyone. Average SAT’s in the US are also only about 1400. BUT, for GW it is much higher, because it is not a school that average kids go to. There are plenty of schools in the US where your SAT score is more than acceptable, not GW.

Holdfasttodreams - Transferring is a different matter. You probably proved your ability at the first college you attended by doing well. The SAT is merely a standard measurement used to PREDICT performance in college. Once you’ve proven you can do well in college, it doesn’t matter as much.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure about the 1980 statistic because I knew someone had posted before that they had scored a 1890 and were accepted, but I’m just repeating what an admissions officer said to my dad. Obviously, beyond that, I can’t vouch for the veracity of the statement.

holdfasttodreams: Are you seriously transferring from Syracuse to GW to get away from the kids you hated there? Sorry to disappoint you, but at $52,000/year, don’t you think that you will probably see the same demographics at GW that you hated at Syracuse???

uhhh yeah excuse me i am… and have done alot of research about both universtiies… so don’t act like i have no idea what i’m in for, i’m not that stupid. i absolutely understand that the student bodies are practically the same, and probably worse at gwu. but when it came down to it i like gwu’s program better AND i want to be in a city rather than the middle of nowhere, and i know gwu is aaaaaaalot of money, but it’ll work out in the end, even if i have to pay a few more thousand off in student loans. i’m a journalism major and i know syracuse is a great school for it, but they only have REALLY specialized majors, and i wanted a broad major which is at GWU. AND since i’m all the way from california, i think it makes more sense to already live in D.C. and try to get internships … as hopeful as that sounds.
