Any chance at Ivies??????????

So, do I have any chance at/should I bother applying to any Ivies. Also, I am a Massachusetts Resident:

Harvard
Yale
Princeton
UPenn
Columbia
Cornell
Dartmouth
Brown

I think that you have a good chance at some of the lower ivies like Cornell, but the upper tier ivies are all basically crapshoots. Not being in the top 5% is probably not helping either. SAT looks like it is on target however.

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/695607-wrong-me-fall-love-these-schools-chance-me-tell.html

Your SAT looks great, as is your Weighted GPA, UW’s a little weak, do you think you’ll get it up a little by the end of the year?
EC’s look solid, which ones are you most passionate about?
I think you have a decent shot at some of the lower Ivy’s, but the top ones will be tougher with your UW since they have so many who are first in the class and/or 4.0’s.

Yeah my UW GPA is terrrrible because my sophomore year I missed 38 days of school, had 11 tardies (for appointments, not just being late in general), and got dismissed early 8 times (again, appts). This was due to an anxiety-driven medical problem that plagued me for the first 3/4 of my sophomore year. I plan on briefly mentioning this in my app.
As far as not being in the top 5% of my class goes, for the reason above^^, I probably am not in the top 5%, but even if I were I wouldn’t know. My school only reveals deciles (top 10%, top 20%, etc), so all I get is my decile, which is first.
Thanks! Anyone else have an opinion. And also, what is considered a “low” Ivy?

I would say the lower Ivy’s are kinda considered Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown and Penn, but I don’t think it’s an official term

Haha yeah the term “low Ivy” is very oxymoronic. I really would like to go to Columbia, so if I were to apply ED would I have a shot?

bump 10 char

don’t dream of the ivies. if you do, they may crush you.

you sound very competitive, but please tell me you have other schools in mind.

and are you applying to all the ivies for any reason other than to apply to all the ivies? pick schools which have what you want, man.

Haha no I’m not actually applying to them all. The ID name is a misnomer. I am planning on applying to maybe 2, 3 tops (mostly because top kids at my school are encouraged to apply). I’m looking at schools like Boston University, Boston College, johns hopkins, georgetown, tufts. I have an extensive list lol. This was just to see what my chances at an Ivy would be.
I would never apply to just ivies! You think I’m nuts lol?!

you had me going there…

Haha do you think anyone would do that? Unless you’re like the valedictorian of Andover or Exeter, that would be soooo stupid. So anyone with chances?

bump 10 char

I think you honestly have a shot at Columbia, dartmouth, penn, and cornell. I think with the GPA they will be tough but you never know. Its worth applying for sure.

OKay thanks. So, should I apply ED to Columbia, or is my chance not high enough so that would be a waste of an ED?

I think Penn or Cornell ED might be your best bet, but Columbia is def worth a shot.

Okay yeah i was thinking Cornell, but I don’t want to go there enough for ED. I’m debating between Columbia and Hopkins for ED.

bummmmmmmmmp

Seriously, anyone?
