Any shot at UPenn or schools like Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Lehigh?

I think you can get in Lehigh or Notre Dame.

I don’t think you have a shot at UPenn based on your ranking and SAT scores…do you have good extracurricular activities/leadership positions/summer activities/jobs?

good shot! depends on what school you are applying to though? I disagree with aznschoolboi22…i got in with a 2060 sat score i never sent my highest..and im at penn now college/engineering! good luck

Woah, question for you shahwaiz69: do you live in PA? I received a 2060 on my SAT as well but I’m going to re-take it, because from what I’ve seen, it’s not enough to compete with others on CC who are applying to UPenn. You give me hope!

AKittka, I’m only a high school junior so I may not be qualified to chance you…but again, from what I’ve seen, there is some crazy competition out there. There are some students with near-perfect SAT scores applying to UPenn and JHU (two of my dream schools), and my 740 math 660 CR 660 Writing scores mak me extremely pessimistic about my chances, which is why I’m going to re-take them in hopes of 2200+. I’d say try to bring them up, especially math which isn’t hard to bring up at all. I did terrible on the math portion of my PSATs but did fairly well on the SATs by simply studying the Kaplan books. I got the same CR score as you, and for the life of me, cannot figure out how some kids get near-perfect CR scores.

Vazimi i am actually international, but i did not apply for FA, i would like to stress that SAT’s are not everything! I had a 2060 on my first SAT and 2260 on the second one, my Sat2’s were 760,740,690, my GPA was a 3.91 UW, and i had decent AP scores. I still managed to get into UPenn, Duke, Rice, Dartmouth and Waitlisted at Brown and Stanford. So it goes to show that you have to present yourself well, its not always the numbers that matter. My friends at stanford with a 1900 SAT score!

sorry i left out so much info.. i had to leave when i was in the middle of posting my info.. i do have a lot of ECs. i have job and im involved in sports that take up two seasons which leaves me little time for ECs but i have still found ways to do a lot of service and ec trips that are unique.

Also, i would be applying to the engineering school (def. not wharton) and my school actually doesn’t give out class rank so that was just an estimate. however, im in the classes with all the kids with the highest gpas so that’s where my class rank estimate came from. I know my SATs are low for UPenn but im hoping for some decent improvement the next time i take it. I still have to take my AP tests and subject tests as well.

excellent shot
admissions are a crapshoot anyway and you’re within range
to make an even better shot though, raise your SAT scores (as people have previously stated lol)

33 ACT will definitely get you into Lehigh… and you’ll also have a good shot at all of the other schools as well. As I’m sure you know, as long as you have good scores/GPA, admissions into top-ranked schools are really a toss-up!

i still don’t know about Lehigh because Lehigh doesn’t consider the ACT, only the SAT out of 1600. currently i have a 1370, which is borderline for Lehigh but w/e. i’m glad i did well on the ACT.

edit: Lehigh does accept the ACT. however there is no score range on the collegeboard website, which confused me.
