Asian Male, Lots of ECS, sports, play several instruments. bad highschool record

UVA is my dream school...i currently go to a state flagship in the northeast. I took a wide range of challenging classes. I would be applying to the general school for econ

do i have a chance?

I think you have a decent shot. What is your HS GPA? Also, I have heard that it may be harder to transfer in the spring as they usually take less for that term. Good luck!

In the spring, UVA takes between 30-40 applicants out of ~300. A 10% acceptance rate isn’t good for anyone really, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. However, if you continue to do well in the fall, I would wait and apply for Fall 2012. Really, the number of OOS students accepted in the spring is pretty low (I want to stay it was in the single digits a couple years ago, but I’m not positive so don’t quote me on that).

thanks for the replies…my hs gpa is horrible…2.0 ish-im currently at my state flagship

i geuss ill just stay here for another year then sigh…

Maybe you should also try UNC Chapel Hill as they may not consider your HS stats as heavily as UVa. With your HS GPA, I’d say you are iffy, but just keep your college GPA up and prove that you can handle the course work!

You should definitely apply.

I got WL’ed (and eventually accepted off the waitlist) at UVa as a transfer. I applied for Fall '11.

My college GPA first semester was 3.7 and 3.8 second semester. My ECs were very poor, but my SAT scores were very good.

Hope that gives you a basis for comparison.

Definitely apply though, you’re a good candidate.
