Any chance for an OOS with a 3.14 UW GPA (High Test Scores)

I've wanted to go to USC since my late Sophomore year. Unfortunately somethings happened and my grades kind of tanked mid year (I got a couple of C's. Ew.).

So know I'm left with a 3.14 UW GPA during my Senior year. I'm about to finish 2 AP FLVS course (Microecon and Government) and those will probably get my unweighted up to around 3.2. My weighted GPA is 3.95 (before the 2 AP classes).

I'll have taken 9 AP classes throughout HS.

So with a 3.14 UW / 3.95 W GPA will I have ANY chance at a USC admission?

I'm retaking the SAT / ACT and I know I can get at least a 2100 / 33. I never studied before and I got an 1800 on the SAT and 28 on the ACT. Although I could've been a bit higher if I hadn't daydreamed on the essays for the 1st ten minutes and if I knew that you must put a comma before an and in a list in a sentence (I was taught that no comma goes before the and).

So is there any hope for an out of state student? I'm in Florida!

Thanks!

USC is a private university. Each student is considered individually. Both your grades and scores are below the average for students admitted. If you have accomplished something unique or have stood out in some exceptional way outside of the classroom then I suspect your chances would rise.

We can only guess here on the board as the admissions committee chooses holistically.
Keep in mind there were 46,000+ applicants last year for the freshmen class. For admitted students the mean GPA was 3.8. Admitted students SAT score mid 50% range was 2030-2250.

What state are you from?

The admission rate for those with below a 3.2 GPA will be low, improving SAT scores by 300 points is also rare. So without extrodinary circumstance, e.g. 4 star football recruit, chnces are slim.

your probably not gonna get in buddy sorry

Depending on what those “somethings” that happened were, it’s possible.

@Georgia Girl: Yeah, I realize that. I haven’t gone and started a (big) business though so I really don’t have an exciting story. I did create and maintain a smallish-medium-sized news site, hiring editors, etc. and attending press events. But that’s pretty much it though.

@SicilianDefense: Florida. It’s in the OP.

@Pundad: I never studied previously for the SAT or ACT. Everything I missed on the tests were things that I would’ve known if I just refreshed my Algebra / Trig skills before the fact.

Overall I’m still looking at the fact that I won’t get in. It’s the GPA that holds me back (and I guess my ECs). The test scores can be remedied easily. My main choice is FSU though, I was just hoping that I’d be able to get into Annenberg (a pipe dream it is).
