Do I stand any chance?
Received a D in AP Chemistry. 730 on the SAT II...
I don't know where to explain this but, my situation is that during Junior year, in addition to the stress of all activities being alone for most of the time after my mother lost her job, I lost a very close relative that I had a close relationship with (Aunt) and was really devastated because I had been contacting her and visiting her since I was younger...Guidance counselor will be writing about this in her letter to colleges I'm applying to...other than that here are the stats

Receiving a letter of recommendation from the Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Yale Genetics department and am wondering if this will have any noticeable effect on my chances.

Would I have a any chance with early decision? Visited their campus and loved it...
I know predictions won't be accurate but I would still appreciate input and "chances"

Even though you had a legitimate problem, the GPA/Class rank will hurt you. However, everything else is pretty good. What’s your CR/M SAT? Cornell doesn’t look at writing.

Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it. @cortana431 It’s currently at a 1400.
What do you think my chances are percentage wise in your opinion? Do you think the letter of rec. from the Vice-Chairman of the Genetics Research at Yale will help?

yes of the 3 you have mentioned CAS is overall more difficult to be admitted to, but specific majors within each college can flucuate in terms of admit difficulty.

So would majors at cals be overall easier to get into ed? How do you think Cornell will consider my circumstance and rec letter from the vice chair?

College of Human Ecology-Biology and Society really encompasses my interests…What do you think my percentage chance is there for Early decision? Thanks!

Also, where should I explain grade discrepancies? I have already requested that my guidance counselor mention this in her letter. Do I need to write about somewhere as well?
